This is a long review, bear with me. A quick tl;dr though: While I'm giving this game a thumbs up, I do have some issues with it and in some ways it needs some refinement.

Reasons why it feels like early access to me
Disclaimer: these things happen, but these are the kind of issues that I felt would be fixed/improved if the updates spent more time in the oven
- I've been encountering a lot of visual glitches especially with the less humanoid player character, random bugs with my character movement, and one time my game closed accidentally (wasn't a crash) and didn't even save to the next day despite how I went through the end-of-day screen
- Sound effect issues. Some monsters have sound effects and some don't, especially those later on in the game. Sometimes sounds don't play when making actions (filling up water is a big one)
- Seasons don't feel like they scale well to your actual progression. I would suggest making them shorter, but it's hard to do that when you can change the day lengths on your own. I dunno, I think maybe having "recommended" settings for the best experience in-game would be nice to see if that fixes the pacing.
- Incomplete controller support. This is a really important one IMO because this makes the game really hard to play on the Steam Deck. It's technically playable, but it's not fun because every QOL you would expect does not exist on controller-- for example, you can't 'right click' or 'shift' with the controller, which makes inventory management and selling items extremely tedious. Also, if you do things like hoeing in the wrong place, you can't fix it. If these controls do exist, they sure are hard to find.

Things in the game I like
- The story is interesting and I do enjoy talking to the characters and their individual storylines
- The world is very lively and vivid with all sorts of surprises, I enjoy the art and how everything around you moves. I think they do a good job of showing each aesthetic of the different areas and the feelings they're supposed to give you.
- Leveling up feels good and the different paths to take with your skills is interesting-- and you're able to buy potions that help escape the grind when you've leveled up too much
- You have a variety of species you can play as
- Birthday event is very sweet (I've enjoyed the other events too, I just thought this one was great)
- Food and permanent buffs is a neat mechanic and encourages you to cook different things for more buffs
- Spells are pretty fun to use

Mechanics/Choices that frustrated me
- The insane amount of crafting tables. I get it's nice sprite art but it's so overwhelming and INCREDIBLY unfriendly to the player, especially when so many crafting machines have similar if not nearly the same purposes. I remember asking for changes and balances with this in early access and am sad it is still the way it is. The last update says there are storage spaces for crafting tables, which I do like and I use them, but in Spring y1 you're bombarded with SEVERAL of them and it already becomes overwhelming to take care of. Why not just condense them, combine them, or upgrade them rather than having each individual crafting machine?
- It's very hard to keep track of what you have and haven't donated to the museum, or what can't be donated at all, and you can't check unless you just go to the museum. Also, not everything can be donated, so you end up carrying around a ton of items while figuring out what you should keep or let go... which makes for a pretty full inventory. It would be nice to have some kind of checker in your encyclopedia
- Triple the currencies and triple the materials for each different farm sounds cool on paper but it's really annoying to manage and organize so it ends up feeling like a chore. The game feels like it wants you to focus on all the farms but that quickly gets stressful, so you end up having to ignore certain farms or crops. I think this game gives some major FOMO at times. Oh yeah and currency wise this doesn't include all the extra specific stuff for different areas and seasons. It just adds up WAY too much (you can tell a lot of my issues are related to management)
- Sun Haven (the town) has far less interesting male romanceables to start with in terms of design/occupation, which makes it feel kind of unfair if you prefer men but are excited about getting into the fantasy side of things. Elaborated below

Male character design rant
To get the positives out of the way: the men are all very handsome and have different personalities-- I don't think they're bad characters at all. But the designs are far less fantastical and interesting than the women, and while they added more interesting designs after early access, they added even more interesting women, so the initial problem of the town is still there.

To tell you what I mean, here's the starting bachelor/ettes
Your male options:
- human baker
- human doctor
- human counselor
- human guard
- rich (very human looking) vampire

And your female options:
- cat girl rancher
- bunny witch
- human archmage
- rich human merchant
- human blacksmith

Sure, a few human options for the gals, but look at their occupations, and their designs are definitely very fantastical. I think the intention is that the amari (animal people) were just as 'human', but it didn't hit that way for me as someone who prefers men. I just wanted to share this for the future because I understand this isn't something easy to fix (and honestly I don't think anyone should change characters this far after early access anyway)-- it's just, if I were to redo this, I probably would've switched at least one occupation between them and let at least one other guy be non-human, so the point of Sun Haven is still there (it's a human town) but it doesn't feel like all the cool ideas went to the women.

This also isn't to say I only go into games with designs in mind-- I care about personalities a lot. But first impressions mean a lot too and it's rare I find a game with romanceables that feel evenly distributed in what they aim for (in this case, fantasy). At the end of the day, this is just my experience and how I feel, and I will always go into these games with a preference for the men. I think later bachelors did balance this out some (pretty much all of the ones added are very unique and interesting) but it's just hard to remove that feeling from Sun Haven (the town).

Conclusion
This is a good game and I think the hard work put into it is clear. I've had fun with it, but it has some gameplay problems and I hope that they continue to refine it. I can still enjoy the game, I'm still playing it, and I'm pretty into it. It seems like they're continuing to work on updates for the future, so I hope they do. I wish them the best.

(edited for typos and eventually some problems I had were fixed later in gameplay, so I removed them from my review)

Super fun with friends! I feel like it's the goofing around friends would do in Lethal Company, but with maybe less risk and you get to film it all. Definitely in the rotation of games my friends and I play now

genuinely my favorite survivorlike of all the ones i've tried, no memes, even if you remove the anime. the only real negative imo is that it can be easy to lose yourself when you become the bullet hell so i wish the mini-map was there from the beginning rather than something you have to unlock

People are used to a brand new game coming out and it working awfully, playing awfully, and being awful, but Dead Space (2023) is not like that. Dead Space (2023) is beautiful, it plays wonderfully, I've encountered very few issues, and as an avid player of the first game, I've been pleasantly surprised over and over and over. Dead Space (2023) brushed out all the other game disappointments from my past, gently pat my hand and said, "I'll make you whole," and by God it sure did.

I think this game is good for all horror fans and this is a great introduction to Dead Space, but if you loved the first game, you will love this remake without a doubt. It takes everything good from the first game, makes it even better, and then adds new stuff that fits well with what the game is going for. The new mechanics are really interesting and the ship layout has been modified (but is still recognizable) so you can go through the ENTIRE ship on foot if you wanted to. There's more to do than the main story, and the main story itself has really pleasant changes. It makes you care about all the characters and you get to see more of what they're up to. Gone is the "Isaac errand simulator" because Isaac talks now and it feels like everyone in the story is doing their part.

The horror is HORRIFIC (in a horror way)! The psychological aspects were stronger in the 2nd game compared to the original, but the remake basically blows this out of the water-- they delve into it so well that it's what made me go, "Okay, I need to write about this now". Even if you played the original game a million times, Dead Space (2023) will find a way to scare the ♥♥♥♥ out of you.

The gameplay is pretty balanced, giving you enough on medium difficulty but not so much that you wouldn't have to strategize and pace yourself. I used all the weapons for the achievements but there are some weapons I ended up liking a lot more than in the original. The force gun from Dead Space 2 has always been my favorite weapon, and the force gun in the remake pretty much feels like that. The flamethrower has a lot more use and I would say all the weapons feel genuinely fun in their own way. The most important thing: the plasma cutter isn't nerfed! There are special upgrades that you unlock by being a little squirrel and scurrying throughout the Ishimura's nooks and crannies. The original game rewards you for going off the beaten path, while the remake actively encourages it.

Dead Space (2023) asks for Dead Space (2008)'s hand in marriage and I'm so jealous, so much respect is paid to the original and I can't emphasize enough how well done this remake is. This game's quality is to the point where like, I think everyone should play the original game first because then they can see just how much love and care was put into this remake. This is a game that didn't need to be remade, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it is fantastic. If Silent Hill 2's remake is done with like, at least half of the enthusiasm that this game was done with, I'd be so happy, seriously.

So I do recommend this game, but with a bit of an asterisk because there were some weird game design decisions that went into this.

Off the bat I'll say if you enjoy farming rpgs then this'll be up your alley. It doesn't do anything too unique but the gameplay loop is pretty satisfying, so I think if you want something to scratch your farming game itch, this is it. However, I do think we've all been spoiled by Stardew Valley so you may leave yourself wanting when interacting with the characters and advancing the game.

One thing I like is the skill system and how huge your farm is. You can unlock more areas of your farm, which in turn unlock more things to do, more mechanics, and more critters. You unlock new buildings by repairing the ones on your farm, and you unlock new animals by taming ones you find. Every first animal you get is free, and you can buy more afterwards or apply a breeding kit when your ranching level is high enough.

There are little forest sprites that unlock mini-games and reward you with various items in-game by progressing and setting free more of their kind. I enjoy this kind of progression and "beating" the game also allows them to help you out more, cutting out some of the game's grind so you can focus on what you want to focus on.

Relationships and characters are my favorite part of these types of games, so the lack of dialogue variety and interaction was definitely disappointing for me. The characters can be entertaining and their cutscenes are fun, but they don't have that much depth. I went for Iori, who is polite and sweet, but his "gimmick" is that he's from overseas so 90% of his dialogue is about that. The characters don't go through many noteworthy arcs, but I'll at least say I enjoy the variety of personalities here and that you feel like a part of the town rather than dictating what happens (e.g. there are some dating couples in the game, plenty of parents and family friends, everyone has people they like to hang out with)

The biggest downside to this game to me is unfortunately a big mechanic: the machines. I'm no stranger to processing machines especially in Story of Seasons games, but the fact that you can only place them on your farm and there is no dedicated building for them takes a lot out. The grind is extremely real when it comes to the machines, and they slow down the game and don't look very good on your farm. I would have fewer complaints if there was a shed.

Similarly, you can't place chests in your house, and decoration areas are only in specific parts and extremely limited. There's not much joy to be had in decorating and it's one of the weakest parts of the game (coming from someone who loves customization).

Overall, I think this is a pretty solid game overall and I've enjoyed the time I've played it. I got my money's worth and there's still a lot I can do in the game, though I wish more time was put into giving the characters (especially the bachelor/ettes) more development, and I wish the game was a bit more organization friendly.

p.s. You should turn on the option that zooms in on the characters' faces since otherwise it's pretty hard to see them

Summary: This is a fantastic adult game that is actually a game, it values your time, and a lot of love and care was put into the gameplay, the world, and its characters. This is an absolute must for anyone seeking a high quality and fun adult game. Also, monster people!

So out of the gate I need to emphasize that this game appeals to everyone who appreciates a bit of heyhey in their gameplay, but as a woman I'm increasingly aware of how few adult games there are that have me in mind. A majority of adult games that have gameplay (especially rpgs) are rife with sexual assault, questionably young characters, and men with purposefully unattractive designs, and the goal is often involved with the female characters' suffering. I'm not gonna be preachy or judgmental; there are plenty of these games that are mechanically fun and high quality, but it's really, really difficult to find something that doesn't make the women into degrading sex objects and that gets exhausting. This is one of the few games where I can confidently say that I am part of the target audience. In Cloud Meadow, all sexual encounters are consentual, everyone is GORGEOUS and clearly adult, and the character designs are varied and creative. You have a male and female body type to choose from and you can have sex with anyone and change your settings to fit your preferences. You unlock more sex scenes by meeting certain characters, breeding with your monsters, or advancing the story.

If you removed all the sex in the game (which you technically can), it would still be a great game, but it would be a shame because the sexual content that's there is high quality and adds a lot to the world it creates. I really can't stop praising the character designs; you'll want to talk to everyone in the town because they all look so vivid and interesting, and all the NPCs are brimming with personality and charming dialogue. You can date a few NPCs and future updates will let you date more (also, how nice of them to support your monster farming career!)

If you enjoy farming sims, you'll likely enjoy Cloud Meadow's gameplay, but it has an expected twist in which the ranching is the meat of the game, while the crop harvesting is more to support your monsters than to make money. It's a little different at first, but raising the monsters is both fun and rewarding, they can help you out with various tasks on your farm, and they can even battle by your side when you go adventuring. The battle system is one of my favorite parts of the game and it's been improved a lot over time. I tend to have Brontide, Jaero, and Yonten in my team because I'm a simp and having beautiful men fight with me is better than being efficient. That being said, learning how the different characters fight is really fun. The pufferfish move is my favorite.

If anything I said here sounds appealing to you, this game is worth it. Ignore my short playtime; I've played the game plenty from Patreon builds and have played a bit offline. There is a lot to do in this game and they continue to add more with consistent updates. I've followed the development of Cloud Meadow for a very long time and I heavily, heavily recommend this game to anyone who might be interested in trying adult games themselves. This should be the bar of quality for adult games and I hope to see more like this.
