Although I already knew the central conceit of the story, I still found it all quite compelling. Knowing vaguely what it was about didn't stop me from becoming emotionally invested. I think that this interactive story-telling format is a great development for games. And more punk rock riot girls are never a bad thing.

I'm absolute rubbish at platform games. I despise them because of this fact. But I'm a musician and 140 is brilliant. It is extremely difficult and sometimes frustrating, because everything has to be pixel and microsecond perfect. Like I said, I don't generally enjoy this, but when it works, it feels like you're just flowing with the music, and that's a great feeling. The one complaint that I have is that you have to beat the levels in a stretch. There are checkpoints within the levels, but if you quit without beating the level, you have to start over. This is particularly frustrating in the "boss battles" of the levels, which are somewhat stressful. You can't really take a break, even though sometimes that's what you need. Still, I recommend the game to anyone who does love platformers, and even if you don't (like me), it still might be worth your time.

I consider this an essential product for using a multi-monitor setup. Just having a fully functional task bar on both screens is well worth it, but the button to immediately switch screens on a window is great too, not to mention the multi-screen wallpaper support. Don't go without it.

I wrote my old review with about 2 hours of experience with the game. At the time of this writing, I have about 6 hours of experience, and my opinion has completely changed. I love Grid. It feels absolutely thrilling. It's is definitely difficult to learn, but once you start to understand, things change completely. Wow, what a great racing game.

My experience with Grid: race loads, engines rev, crash at first corner. Reload race. Repeat ad nausem. The game looks great, but it's ferociously difficult. Unlike Forza, there's absolutely no learning curve. Plus the AI is absolutely out to kill you. I really want to like Grid, but it's taking a long, long time to get the hang of it. Also, I find it very frustrating that the keybindings only have ONE possible setting, so if I bind a key to my racing wheel, it no longer works on the keyboard. I learned early on to only use the wheel for driving, and leave all the other buttons on their default bindings. It is a very pretty looking game, though, and you definitely get a feeling of the POWER of the cars you're driving. Mostly this just makes me want to play Forza, though.

Apparently, there's been a whole bunch of rage about Starbound in the last few weeks. Frankly, if you see somebody who has played 50, 60, or 70+ hours writing a whole screed about why Starbound sucks and why Chucklefish can kiss their nubby bits, I cannot take those people seriously. No, I mean it. They are idiots. You got 50 hours of play out of a $15 game? When Triple-A $60 games can be beaten in 10 hours or less? If you hated it so much, you should have stopped playing a long time ago. Look, as of writing this, I've played almost 70 hours of Starbound myself, and I've had a good time. I've had a good time. Okay? If the game was just declared as finished now, I'd still be happy with the money I paid and glad to pay more for the good time I've had. I have every confidence that the game will be done eventually, with a higher level of polish and more features. I have much less confidence that the gaming world will ever adjust to the idea of "early access" and "playable betas." The simple truth is that people take games way too seriously. I whole-heartedly recommend Starbound. Don't buy into the hate.
