I really loved the atmosphere, but I felt that a lot of the design was just too muddy. Balance felt pretty bad too, with combat being clunky or too hard, while other things were just too easy. All within the same difficulty settings.

The game claims you can "play your way" and then really doesn't have enough options to do so, requiring prior knowledge of a previous gameplay to really make much use out of it. (Don't skill trap me bro!)

While I actually really enjoyed aspects of the game, the above issues really took the magic out of it for me.

Some personal issues with balance of weapons and playstyles, but everything is viable depending on your own skills.

Wonderful play on Morals, Politics, Philosophy, and Player involvement.

Judged based on time of release, game still holds strong in my heart too.

I think this game was a great idea that fell short, and my review has to do with issues of gameplay not monetization.

This game feels like MTG 2.0 with lots of half-punches being thrown. It feels like it could have been one of the true contenders of the CCG/TCG, but it fails mechanically to understand either Dota's RTS nuances for me.

My strongest opinions are:

1. Powercurve feels terrible -- mana costs do not contain powerful cards and make lower cost cards garbage past the first few turns. This in combination with limited draw and 3 boards, makes single card powerhouses massively outrank lesser cards.

2. Heroes don't feel heroic -- Their individual signature cards can be played by anyone of the same card color. They feel like stat sticks the rest of the time.

3. Items/Gold -- What a mess. As a dota player there's no semblance of dota in the item and gold mechanics at all. Mimicking something without understanding, Artifact creates a resource that can barely be used by most decks. A "Feast or Famine" effect. Autochess even holds a simplistic mechanic of the dota items while still grokking them.

4. So Much potential ! -- Artifact could have been VR enabled and given us a AutoChess-like board. It could have focused more on RTS-Card game with figurines and epic clashes with more board control than AutoChess. But I feel like it just fell flat, 2 dimensional like the cards themselves.


I thought it was a fun game for a bit, but that it ran out of fun for me. I thought if I just played a bit longer I would discover some secret, some bigger vision -- and just got more depressed by how many pieces of an amazing game that felt like they should be, that weren't there.

Valve is working on a 2.0, whatever that will mean, and I hope in some distant future to be able to change this review to back to positive again.

I think the strongest points of this game are its Art and Music. The story was simple but somewhat emotional and beautifully played out through the gameplay and minor cutscenes. I personally do not play fast paced games such as this and found the controls frustrating at times. I would not play this game without a controller, ever. Many secrets and locations can be found early with player skill, or later with unlocked rpg-skills.

For Time, I completed this game in about 10 hours with a 95% completion rate. I played the Definitive Edition as well, so there's a slight bit more content included. I would definitely recommend this game and the soundtrack.

I haven't touched FFX/X-2 since my old PS2 days, but all the nostalgia and gameplay are still alive and well here. There's also a few extra options like Expert Sphere Grid, 2x/4x gameplay speed, etc., that make the game interesting to play more than just once -- if you have the time.

I kickstartered this game in 2012. Grim Dawn is to me the spiritual successor of diablo 2. Path of Exile comes a close second to me, but GD calls to my deep nostalgia of skill points and customization. This game has multiple classes and allows you to use a second one at level 10.

Grim Dawn's story and lore play on elements of dispair in an apocalyptic Victorian setting. The weapons are often simple tools and salvage strapped together with belts. It follows a loot system extremely similar to Diablo with a small caveat of what you see is what you get, an enemy can only drop what it normally uses. So you can fight certain enemies to get their weapons, or variants of them with slightly different modifiers (monster infrequents).

The game has simple choices in dialog that affect quest rewards, usually immediately. You might save someone's life or simply ask for money and move on. The lore has many Gods and otherworldlies vying for the world of man at the same time. There's less of a true "good" in it all. In Diablo for example, there's angels and demons, but in GD there's conflict of interest. The Cult of Cthon wants to kill humanity and bleed them dry to summon their Cthulu-like god, while the Aetherials are possessive spirits seeking hosts. Humanity stuck despairing the morning the doors flooded open, that morning of the Grim Dawn.

Played since 2013 off and on. You play as specially powered suits called warframes. You have 4 powers per frame and can also use guns, bows, knives, swords, hammers, etc. Basically speaking you are a space pirate ninja. The grind in this game is real and can feel empty sometimes, but there's an itch to scratch that always brings me back. Its Free 2 Play model is quite fair, but sometimes a bit time consuming. Putting money into the game significantly speeds up progress, but much of the progress you have is horizontal not vertical like many other games out there. (Options vs Power)
It does have its faults, but it's a good game nonetheless.
