There's really no variety in each run: you run around in circles while your various abilities slowly chip away at the ever-increasing healthbars of enemies. There's no power fantasy in this game, which really kills the fun. You never get to feel OP because enemies get stronger at the same rate as you do. That's not to say the game is hard, it's actually really easy to survive and dodge, but feels like the dev team fell into the trap of thinking that creating bullet sponges amounts to actual difficulty more than inconvenience. I genuinely get sleepy during runs because it's just not engaging at a real level. The skill trees and runes look impressive but they lack depth and real choice and trade off. You're mostly just slowly grinding for a few % increase of various stats here and there that don't influence how you build your character.
