This game has it all... what's not to like?
+Realistic zombie survival (you got item quality, energy, infection, fuel, water being sometimes hard to find, tools needing repairs...)
+Sandbox, build whatever building you want
+Active modding community
+Very active and nice dev
+Truly free to play, paid stuff are only cosmetics
+PvP or PvE servers
+Arena-style pvp mode like pubg and h1z1 and the sorts (and it's been around for a long time, it's not like it was made after pubg got viral)
-Graphics may not be to the taste of everyone because of the blocky characters
-Most servers have a lot of 12y.o. screamers

Small fun game, you can see my playtime but note I replayed it twice (and idled at first to get cards). Bought it with a coupon and got cards so I don't regret it but yeah it might not be worth the full price.

*Don't be fooledby my low play time, I've spent hundreds of hours on this game on the browser version*
If you wanna get started in RotMG now is a perfect time to get started as the company that bought the game a year ago(DECA games) is very active in terms of updates and fixes and there are a lot of active players.
Now, this game is definitely not for everybody because of the graphics and the perma-death(if you die you lose everything on your character except pets which are permanent investments) but it's something you can get used to. This game can be a bit grindy and very frustrating at times but also enjoyable to play once you get good at it. It has some bugs and a big portion of the community are hackers(devs are actively trying to fix both). Lag can also be very annoying if your internet connection isn't fast enough, I've lost some good characters because of it, just like everyone else, so just learn from others' mistakes and you'll be fine :)
There are 14 classes total you can play right now so there's definitely one that's gonna suit your playstyle, there are also quite a number of items so this will also give you choices for your builds. There's a lot of different dungeons to play and some unique events during the "month of the mad god" and christmas, easter, halloween too and the devs are always open for new ideas (yeah seriously!). You will need skill to be very good at it so get ready to die a lot and learn a lot!
As I said this might not be for everybody's taste but it's F2P and the download size is minimal so might aswell give it a try!
