If you think that you want to dip your toes into soulslike games, this is the perfect game to start you!
The simple fact that you don't lose your currency (mass) on death means you don't have to worry about losing it when you get a risky distance away from your respawn point!

The game also extremely heavily encourages (and at the start actually forces) you to learn how to parry, which in other similar games is either an entirely optional mechanic, or in fact something only the very best players can even manage to do.

While the visuals might be strange, they all do make sense, and if you take the time, the story does explain these things somewhat.

Normally when I play these kinds of games, I feel compelled to overlevel or farm excessively, so my personal playthrough of GRIME, where I also picked up every achievement in the game whilst doing, I limited myself to ONLY ONE level up OR allowing myself to spend ONE hunt point (alternate currency in game that you spend on skills rather than stats), per time I died. Since currency isn't lost on death, this was perfectly safe. By doing so, I always had Hunt Points to spare for a specific skill if it was particularly helpful on a boss, or if I pass by a merchant, I have the mass to purchase anything and everything I want from them - since i didn't spend much mass since I levelled up less often.

This is a really roundabout way to say that this game is excellent, the difficulty is perfect. The puzzles make sense and at least I personally didn't need to look up anything to beat any encounter in the game (although secrets were difficult to find at times!)
