Rimworld is both extremely simple in concept but there is so much detail and variety that I can easily play it for hours, this game is one of the best indie games I have ever played and I never find myself getting bored. It has so many small details that even AAA titles would overlook, such as how the material on the ground affects a characters movement speed, or how temperature changes the chances of certain diseases. I can't give this game enough praise in one review as it's honestly and incredible achievement by the developer. This game was so much fun that I first received it as a pirated copy but loved it so much that I paid out of pocket on Steam just because I wanted to see the game grow. The developer has done so much and given the community a hell of a lot of content. If you haven't already, buy this game, it's worth the price tag.

Updating to add: This game still rocks, i just invested way way more time into it now and most of that time is littered with war crimes, organ farming and lost colonies.
