For everyone who didnt notice this already on his own. This game is not new and to be more precise its over 20 years old, therefore the graphics dont look like the new games.

You're in space and you're ruling an empire to conquer the universe. To reach the top you can select one of the 13 very unique races, each race has its own traits, advantages, weakness and history. Additionally you can even create your own custom race, where you can select any boni or mali that you desire. After youve made a choice, you can competete with up to 7 other empires to conquer the stars. You'll be able to plan every of your colonies, decide which scientific field will be the most useful for you, customize and improve your starships, recruite special leaders for your ships or your colonies, negotiate peace, technological trades or multiple other contracts with other empires, command the tactical battles of your fleets or even destroy entire planets. The AI in MoO2 is pretty decent, even compared to new games - its above average. The AI plays to win, different Empires act differently, the AI is aggressive, the AI expands, the AI researches away from you, the AI wins games. Now part of it is, like for nearly any 4x game, on higher difficulty the AI gets extra boni. As already said this is nothing special for 4X games, and I cant name any big name, where this would be different. Now something that is special about it, is that the AI uses them in a favorable way for them and there are we again; the AI is decent enough to bring you a fight for the money, even on the "moderate" difficulties, the AI will play good enough to destroy new players. Luckily you have plenty of different difficulties to adjust your own learning curve. So higher difficulties give a real challenge for the best of us, while the more easier give everyone a proper way to find into the battle. So anyone who starts playing this, may he completly new to 4x or may it be Napoleon that needs a bigger challenge after conquering middle europe, youll find plenty of fun and challenge here.

Last but not least, multiplayer sessions still work. Depending on your computer, you might need a workaround, but the forum will help you with it (not only steamboards, but MoO2 has a small yet active community spread outside of here). MP games need a bit of planning. First because the game sessions itself can be very long - again nothing bad for 4X games. Second because the playerbase is small. Yet its big enough to find them! Thats something that not every 20year old game can say about itself.

Despite my low amount of hours on the steamversion of MoO2, I played this game a lot. I might've played it for easily more than 1000hours within all those years and I played and beat all the difficulties.

You have to fight waves of monsters, dodge mean traps, clear dungeons and crypts, beat amazing bosses and avoid your own death!

This is another great roguelike game which i want to recommend. You can choose between a couple of classes and some of them have a very different playstyle to each other. Beside this, you have a levelsystem with multiple possibilities to spend your abilitypoints. It has enough different difficulties, so that it wont get boring after the first few hours. I can really enjoy the graphics, it reminds me of some other old 2D-games. Also you will discover some refferences to other games, so maybe you will even get an extra smile, when you receive the next item from the last bossfight.
More interesting than this is probably the fact, that it has a nice local coop mode (and its fully supported for xbox360 controllers and personally I really love to play Hero Siege with using them). But even when you cant get some friend over for a local session, theres still an online coop mode - so in worst case you can still play with some stranger around the world. Last but not least, the developers didnt abandon their game and they are updating all the time (fixing bugs but also granding new content).

The name already says what this game is about. Its an awesome rogue-like. You try to conquer a castle of your ancestors while you jump and kill in a beautiful 2D-world. You can play multiple classes and all of them are different to each other. But not only the classes make every of your characters unique. Also your characters have some random attributes, like genes, which can be very useful or even negative, usually those negative genes are meant for fun-runs, an example for this is that your controls are reversed. Next step for your character is gathering some gear. You can receive them in chests, which you get from bosses, minibosses and some special rooms. I recommend this game to every rogue-like fan and to everyone whos not afraid of dying.

This game amazes me today in the same way as it did it a few years ago. Its not a complicated or very tough strategy game, but its a beautiful and very funny one. You are just controling a space station and its economics, you make your different aliens happy (or sometimes you dont :P). I recommend this game for anyone who wants a few hours of joy by building, expanding and improving your very own space station, or well sometimes you have to fight someone else before it is your very own.

This is a great turnbased roguelike game. The different skills and characters make every new run very unique. Also its very fancy, that it has a Sci-Fi setting instead a Fantasy setting, which is very common for roguelikes. Also some surprising elements/events in the game are funny (or sometimes make you angry). last but not least, I want to say, that even the easiest difficulty is already a huge challenge. All other difficulties are even harder, so basically I suggest to start on "Easy" because its more than hard enough.

This game is a gem of all puzzle-plattformers. It surprised me a lot by its beautiful mechanics. Your motivation is kept pretty simple, youre a goat and you want to escape your prison. While that youre freeing some sheep and find a helping mouse as your partner. This game provides you a few hours of gameplay in several great levels. To meantion now is its only weakness, this game is kind of short. This is not unusual for indiegames, so its normal that you dont get 30+ hours of it by just using the regular levels, but for this the game has an editor to create your own levels. So to increase the gametime, you can get some levels made by other fans and players. I recommend this game for anyone who likes plattformers.

A great Tower Defense: Usually I prefer other kind of strategygames, but Im really happy that I gave it a try. The story is amazing and also is the artwork. The gameplay is a usual TD-gameplay but with some RPG elements for your "towers" (units) which makes the game even more interesting.

Probably the best space TBS after the legend MoO2! The graphics and the developers (its an Indie title) are really really nice. Dont fear to visit their forums and vote for things that should be implemented. BEST INDIE 2012!
