I'm torn about this game. At the end of the day I recommend it, but I have huge issues with a few things. First off, everyone talks about how there's an amazing story, but honestly there's no story whatsoever. There is nothing but a setting. The setting is incredible; to be sure, and it is revealed beautifully and in a way that makes it feel like a story, but there is absolutely no plot. I felt no motivation to play other than wondering what the end was. The only story to be gleaned is what people theorize after watching the vague ending play out. If you are coming for the story, you will be intrigued the whole time, but leave feeling dissatisfied and sold short.

There are also many sequences with very large distances to cover, frustratingly so given your character's movement speed. This is especially frustrating during one of my favorite parts in the game, the 20 man puzzle, as it's plagued with backtracking vast distances. The artwork isn't good enough to fill the time gap these massive distances create.

The underwater section grew very monotonous and tedious very quickly as well, to the point where I was dreading anytime my feet got a little wet. Luckily it stopped after a while but I was very frustrated with that whole segment and almost stopped playing at it.

That all being said, the universe this takes place in is just fascinating and worth the money just to have it revealed to you. the clever puzzles are an added bonus, and the last-second escape sequences throughout the game are breathtaking and always have you on edge. You always feel both in danger and in awe at the same time. The art is fantastic, and the animations are quite possibly the best I've seen in any game, and perfectly complement the nice and tight controls.

The experience is great and worth your money; only the level design hurts the otherwise outstanding gameplay, and the lack of a plot removes a lot of potential humanity and motivation I desparately wanted to feel for our protagonist. I guess given some of the theories about the game that might be intentional, but during the first playthrough it really just made me less excited for what should be an easy 10/10 game. But again, absolutely worth the money. You should definitely play it.

Pretty fun game, much better with friends than alone though. Really creative environments, good balancing, satisfying combat, great and memorable bosses, really anything you could want.

While the art is good, the environments are kinda a cluster♥♥♥♥ and most of the difficulty of the game comes from trouble either finding your opponent or distinguishing them from the background, especially in the late game. It can be hard to fight off a massive horde of foes, and tough to take down a crazy tanky boss, but at the end of the day I most struggled against the backgrounds themselves and trying just to find my enemies. Maybe this isn't as big a problem in singleplayer, but with 4 people it's super hard to find you enemies.

Good brawler though, and definitely earns its place among the indie giants. Very fun and memorable. Even if a little annoying.

I spent most of my time in this dating sim managing a kendo and science club and getting so sick I was hospitalized for a month. What a great time I had.

Super solid mechanics, fun and diverse gameplay. I don't know why I'm writing this because literally everyone on steam has TF2 in their library.

That's okay because I'm basically the best demoman in the game except for the other ones so I have some authority on the matter.

Incredible story that made me think a lot about parenthood and relationships, with really haunting choices and locations around the world. Everyone should play this game. It's about as art as art can get.

Awful camera angle, not fun, only a half hour long but felt like 6 hours, 3 locations, repetitive gameplay and objectives, yada yada yada.

That was significantly less fun than if I were to walk outside myself and ♥♥♥♥ on someone, but that protagonist sure is a good tightrope walker.

Early Access Review
Welp this was completely broken. The level design is basically 5 big hallways with enemies in them. They stand still and shoot you. Every gun has some crazy knockback that frustratingly locks you in place. I fell out of the world 2 times also but that was more fast paced than anything else so I was pretty happy about it.

But hey it had naked zombies so I guess that's a plus ain't it.

Embarrassingly bad. They took a map that would take 2 minutes to walk through and artificially extended it to 30 minutes by locking doors and making you look for keys in a ton of identical rooms over and over again. But if you like walking it's pretty great.

Stunningly gorgeous, tight controls, loyal to the original, and challenging as tits while still being addictively fun, not rage-inducing. It basically does everything right and still has the feel of the original. It is a little more cartoony than the old grittier version, and I think that removes a little bit from the immersion you have in the cold industrial world, but overall I don't think it's too worse for ware with that. A ludicrously good platformer. Must have.

The awful graphics are only matched by the incompetence of the audio design and the awful controls. Standard gunplay, nothing good about it. Vehicles control like I'm a quadruple amputee. Very unsatisfying. Worst designed levels that flow you right into the enemy spawn and then you get killed for it. They only have like 0.6 servers so if you want to play with a friend you'll have to search for like 10 minutes to find a server with an opening. I don't even know why I'm spending so long railing on this game, you can literally just look at it and listen to it and know it's not worth your time.

Literally the worst thing ever.
