Overview:
In 2015, game developer Psyonix released Rocket League. It is a vehicle/soccer hybrid video game built on the physics engine of the Unreal Engine 3. This is the sequal to Psyonix's 'Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars'. Obviously, the name is the real improvement. In the game (much like futbol), players operate cars to push a ball into an opponent's goal to earn points. Every car uses a jet-engine of sorts to boost and fly through the air to hit the ball.

Gameplay:
I could never imagine operating any vehicle in a game without a gamepad. I played this game using an Xbox 360 controller which synced all controls instantly. The button configuration is perfect (in my opinion). The graphics look great for the current generation of games. The game isn't focused on realism so the graphics should follow. I think it is beautiful and runs smoothly. The game's soundtrack is all 'trance'. It adds a very upbeat and fun feel while playing the game. I have listened to the soundtrack outside of the game and it is still fun to put on while doing the chores. The game offers multiple vehicles and vehicle customization (color, vinyl patterns, antenna flags, boost, wheels, etc). The modifications don't make a huge impact on gameplay, but help to make every vehicle a little more unique. I personally prefer to play using a bright pink pedo van.

There are several multiplayer queues to play. Duel (1v1), Doubles (2v2), Standard (3v3), Chaos (4v4) and ranked versions of each gametype as well. During the winter, an update added a holiday gametype which replaced the ball with a hockey puck and an ice rink inspired arena. There is a big learning curve; it becomes learning between hitting the ball, hitting the ball in the right direction, landing in the right direction, and doing it all in the air while boosting. There is also a difference between matchmaking alone and with friends. Good tactics by working together are important to achieve a win. Usually it is balanced through ranked matchmaking. Each match has a time of 5 minutes, so games are very quick and enjoyable. Even though each game is essentially the same, I never feel like I am repeating each game over and over. it feels fresh and new each round.

At the current time, PC players are not able to queue with players from the Playstation Network, but are able to connect to them randomly through matchmaking. This was a bummer because I looked forward to playing with all my friends on PS4. Microsoft announced that their version for the Xbox One would not be cross-platform because they won't allow it.

Price:
$13.99 during Winter sale. $19.99 regularly. Absolutely worth the price either way. I believe it is a must play. I would recommend getting multiple friends into it to play together.

Conclusion:
A must play for 2015. I would recommend using a controller. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes a challenge and groups of players who enjoy a cooperative experience.

Overview:
Mirror's Edge was developed by DICE in 2009. It is an action/adventure first-person shooter parkour game.
The game is based around the female protagonist “Faith” who is part of a group of couriers called “runners” who carry packages around the city. Using their parkour skills, they avoid police by running along rooftops, sliding down rails and ziplines, bashing through doors, and jumping off walls.

Gameplay:
I played this game using an Xbox 360 controller which synced all controls instantly. The controls and game feel like they were made for a controller. The movements are very fluid, the button setup is flawless, and it all feels natural in your hands. Graphically, it is a masterpiece of its own. It has a beautiful art style with graphics matching the time of the game’s release. The soundtrack matched the game very well; exciting and fast paced when it needed and slow melodies to soak in the beautiful cityscape. The game itself was fun. It had its fair share of puzzles and fights that required the use of its multi-button parkour system. There were almost always multiple routes the any destination. The only downside to the style of gameplay was that at times it felt repetitive. It doesn’t give the desire to keep playing until the end, but still exciting enough to beat the game.

Price:
$4.99 during Winter sale. $19.99 regularly. Absolutely worth the price on sale. But I would still say the game is worth $15.

Conclusion:
A must play. This game is fun and exciting with a one of a kind style. A controller is recommended. This is recommended for anyone who enjoys FPS, puzzles, or the idea of doing parkour and become a street ninja without actually risking their life.

I knew this game was going to be amazing since the second I played it. It's comedic, fun, and extremely difficult when you have no idea what you are doing. I spent hours perfecting this game and I enjoyed every second of it. One of the best purchases I have ever made. Worth every penny, especially when it is on sale.

Shattered Horizon is an FPS set in space. Teams fight to the death in zero gravity. You can choose to walk around the astroid, sure. But the really amazing stuff happens when you are using your jet pack to travel from astroid to astroid. The graphics are killer and the zero gravity maneuvering will have you getting a little dizzy. But it is definitely not a bad thing! It just makes it all the more addicting.

Intense action packed shooter. Explosions, Bullets flying past your head constantly, and a wide range of weapons make this game a must play.
