A lot of reviewers compare this game to The Witness, which I agree with, sort of. The premise of this game starts simple: solve the puzzle, then the next, then the next, and so forth. Then, they start adding new elements to each puzzle, a new guideline, a new obstacle, a new pattern. Can be difficult at times, but it never felt impossible. At its core, it's just like The Witness.

I personally think the overall environment and tone is where this game shines and separates itself from similar games. Everything just fits together well. The atmosphere, while lonely, isn't oppressive. The music fits perfectly.

As far as games of this type, Taiji is definitely one of the better ones. I haven't beaten all of it, still have a few hidden puzzles to go, but I'd say this is a definite recommend. This game is best played a few hours at a time, without having to think too hard. I took notes, but you don't have to.

Wildermyth is one of those one-in-a -million games for me. It has a charm to it that really makes it unique.

At face value, one could say that it's just a procedurally generated Fire Emblem or XCOM, but there is so much more happening under the surface. There is a system where your characters develop differing relationships with each other. There is an entire system that allows your characters to transform. To top that off, events can occur that relate to these systems. There's so much more to this game than it seems.

As far as storytelling and characterization goes, that's where this game shines. The individual events are varying levels of fun, and usually have an impact on your party, be it a transformation, a legendary weapon, or even an elusive pet! Watching my characters develop as they age is a joy, and there are even a few I've grown attached to. To add to that, you can even bring back your faves in later campaigns. No joke: the last chapter of All the Bones of Summer felt like Avengers: Endgame, what with all of my favorite characters showing up and all.

I can't wait to see what else the devs have in store for this game. There's more to come, and it's exciting.

This is, beyond a shadow of doubt, one of my favorite games out on Steam. I have bought this game for a few friends, and recommended it to even more. And now I'm here, recommending it to you. Please play this game. You won't regret it.

This game is fantastic. A good time for those who like puzzle games or atmospheric games.

This game is cool if you like total RNG-based grindy, oftentimes frustrating, games. Even then, it's not ready for shipping. English is pretty terrible, too much extraneous fluff, and a total disconnected feel from your decisions.

2.5/10 until really fixed

I got this game 4 days ago. A day and a half of those four days was spent on this game. It's difficult to put down, and I love it so much!
