Had high hopes for this game but it's been long abandoned. The music gimmick is neat but never sounds like more than a high-schooler's garageband project; it can still be appreciated for the unique spin it gives to combat. Visuals lose their appeal very fast. There is enough content to validate the price but it lacks the true replayability of other roguelikes in the same price range.

From a gameplay perspective, Little Nightmares is slightly lacking. The level design of each chapter loosely follows the same pattern: introduction to enemy, stealth, puzzle, difficulty ramp-up, puzzle, final confrontation, and variation comes from the enemy's abilities. This means that at times gameplay is repetitive, but not enough so that you would become bored of it - in fact, the biggest offenders are the 'chase' scenes that occurs at least once per chapter, and these are more often than not the most thrilling moments of the game. I was almost upset that the final boss fight /wasn't/ a chase... The least enjoyable moments are when Six gets hungry.

And that's the only jab I can take at Little Nightmares. I love the character designs, the atmosphere, the soundtrack, and most of all I love the subtle way a story is told with nothing but imagery. Depending on what's in the DLC, Little Nightmares might end up being my favourite game.
