Awful person simulator - now, with voice acting! Live the depression of terrible choices you can't avoid, and that you didn't personally make! Talk about your feelings, and other people's feelings, before you have a reason to know or care! Experience random curse words and an illustration of a guy with his junk hanging out!

Hooray - you've now made it through the introduction! Next comes the tutorial...

A lot of fun, but make sure you switch back to the original graphics. Halo 1 was basically unrecognizable with the reskins, and dramatically worse for it. Yes, the original graphics are blocky, but the animations match the voice acting, and the environments don't block your shots with invisible artifacts.

Anyway, fun trip down nostalgia lane, and nice to finally beat Halo 1 on Legendary.

One of the trippiest, most brilliant video games I've ever played. Absolutely give it a go.

Refunded this one. The premise was amazing, but the "humor" and writing was puerile at best - usually it was foul, gross, and not funny.

Task completion/resource collection game: make your way around the island, save the communities, by completing short levels and amassing resources to complete goals. Needs a mouse to be most successful. Look and feel is half Polynesian, half Mayan. Cute little story.

I wouldn't recommend this and here's why: nothing is automatic and it takes a certain level of mindreading to figure out how to correctly finish the level. For example, the level starts with multiple open spaces to create resource-mining stations (farms, sandalwood nurseries, and stone mines) and it gives you the goals. Every time resources are created, you have to mouse over them to pick them up. Sometimes you have to trade with various gurus or bandits to get resources or convince to go away, but those little guys are hard to find on the screen and their specific quests are only available when you mouse over them. Plus limited queuing, which means you have to stay on top of your little workers' timing pretty closely. So imagine having to swish through the screen very quickly to pick up resources, hitting thought bubbles as you go (obscuring the screen, seemingly from nowhere), and divining what should go where and what you'll need in order to accomplish the mission. By the time you have half a plan in your head, the first time goal is gone, and you still have no idea how to get wood by trading when you can't get the food you need to build stone quarries to trade stone for wood, let alone the magic you need to repair the trading station bc you can't build a sandalwood nursery for lack of wood. And you need 3k wood in your inventory to accomplish the mission? *whistle* there goes the second time goal!

Seemsl ike it would be fun - but I have a keyboard, not a controller. The keyboard controls literally do not work - I can't perform special combos, the timing is all off, and the game just becomes frustrating. Give it a try if you have a controller, not so much with a keyboard.

Imposible to play successfully with a laptop track pad. Dying as a result of wonky controls - trying to right-click and left-click at almost the same time, while using my other hand to control movement. I'll update my review after trying with a dedicated mouse, but if you're playing on a laptop, don't bother.

There is a lot to delve into in this game... I think. As a long-time Civ player, I thought I had a decent handle on 4x games, and so was excited to fire up this one. I played through the (very short!) tutorial, and everything seemed straight-forward enough, and so I set my first game on "Newbie" difficulty and jumped in.

Unfortunately, the learning curve becomes a cliff at that point. The help menu literally takes you to an ad-filled, very incomplete and poorly updated wiki page on the internet; no Civiliopedia here. By the end of the game, I was getting warnings that AI players were nearing victory types I literally did not know - and apparently had no way to know, shy of out-of-game googling - were in the game.

So do I recommend this game? It seems like it could be fun, but the very rudimentary tutorial, and lack of a "help" file (or a useful wiki page) really turn me off. I think I could get into it... with another 10-20 hours of learning/googling/messing about on low difficulty levels. Other people apparently really like it, so there must be some way to access that information that I apparently couldn't or didn't find on my first 9 hours of play.

To me, that seems a little too steep. Which is a shame, because it looks like there is a lot here to discover.

This game is a short, challenging platformer, suitable for casual players, but with sufficient (mostly optional) difficulty for those who are more hardcore.

The music is a lot of fun, and the soundtrack for this game is definitely worth it if you like light, upbeat background music. Visuals are simple, but appealing; it feels very much like some of the best, early DOS games.

Expect to die, a lot - but that's ok. I finished the game in three hours, with 14 of the 20 trinkets (including Veni, Vidi, Vici!) with about 1400 deaths.

tl;dr - Great game, and worth the price (especially if on sale).

An updated edition of an older classic I loved as a kid - I was pumped to find this edition in a bundle, which I picked up for a song. Usually, this game can be found discounted, but is worth a LOT more than a lot of other, more expensive games out there.
You're a pirate, you go around capturing and looting ships, rescuing damsels in distress, dancing (it's fun; don't look at me like that), and fencing with other pirates. If you haven't tried it, DO SO.

The only con - difficulty settings are managed in-game, unlike in previous editions, with significant in-game consequences. For some, this can be a little off-putting, especially if you want to jump straight in to a higher difficulty level from the beginning.
