"UPDATE"
Overall, 7.5/10

I am still critical of the game, but I will admit, I am changing it to a recommended, buttt, I still have my criticisms from below. Just go in knowing there is no offline single player mode and they can change your gameplay at anytime. I wish Steam had a more robust reviewing score system since I really dislike rating everything just bad or good. I miss the old days when things could be rated just OK. But I played more today and they are continuing to fix things and I did notice a bump up in abilities and loot drops. The game actually felt better today after the update and it is why I am changing it to a recommended. If they can just make it more like it was when it first released (without the bugs, but when abilities, loot drops, and gameplay felt more powerful). Again, I am still critical of this game, but I do not agree with Steam just give it a bad rating review system. Reviews are getting worse in the gaming hobby and this "it sucks" or "it is a amazing" is a bad review design. Just ensure you know you are going into a game that can change. I still recommend the story, if you want to actually listen and read everything the game provides. Too many games just do not have a true mature adult theme this one provides. This is the end of my update, and I feel it is better to still give it a chance, but be critical of it's flaws in hoping they improve upon it, and can possibly fix the flaws if they decide to risk making a sequel.

It had a rough launch, which was to be expected and after the first week or two, but it was actually really good. I enjoyed the more mature/dark story, liked the characters, read all the documents, loved the environments, the enemies, and even the gunplay/gears type of gameplay was fun with some badass weapons. Only thing I was craving was a little more backstory on some of the characters, but the story was cool, but still pretty simple/basic, and flowed well. It was still better than the cringe dialogue, horrible voice acting, and convoluted story in Cyberpunk cough cough. Seriously, characters you just met from Cyberpunk would re-introduce themselves after you literally just talked to them hours ago lmao. I digress, sorry still feel ripped off from that pre-order…. But, at least Outriders is still a decent/good action game that I really enjoyed, if not for the damn nerfs.

However, after the past few weeks, the loot, abilities, and guns just feel weak after they keep nerfing the game to cater to the select few who will grind hours on end for their twitch channels. I hate to say it, but it really does feel like they are trying to cater to keeping the game going for the people who love to grind hours on end or just need to keep producing content online. I finished the game on Xbox back when it launched and it was good and now trying to play/finish it on PC a few weeks later, but I am not enjoying the nerfs at all. Every build I had that was great before is nerfed to hell. Also, the loot drops are even more atrocious now.

If they would have given it an offline only single player mode and allowed you to feel powerful/get awesome loot during your game, and then had a separate grindy online mode, it would have been much better with their recent patches. I stopped playing MMOs and competitive MP games because of the hours on end time commitment. I will admit, being an adult now these grind fest games just do not interest me anymore and it is why I did enjoy the game at first, but not anymore. The looter shooter aspect is an absolute grind fest and not worth it after finishing the game. If they eventually update it and at least make it like it was before with more powerful abilities, guns, and better loot drops, I will update my review, but until then, enjoy the story in co-op/single player or play online if you truly love a grind fest.

If you like smooth, fast paced, and tactical shooters, then this game is worth the shot. Also, it is nice that all of the guns have skins but it does not turn the game into a pay to play game. It still has a ton of hackers (hell even the pros have been caught hacking and cheating), but still, it can be fun with friends. A simple game to jump into, but requires extremely twitch based skills and has a ton of depth to master overall.

This game is a reverse take on the monster genera as you end up being the monster from the start trying to escape the lab facility. Overall, it is a great little game; it is short but worth the week or weekend of play. The puzzles are simple yet can be somewhat perplexing. The level design and art style are fantastic, and the old school mentality of memorizing locations and maps is refreshing (or you can google the maps). The action is top-notch, and you feel like you indeed are the monster. Overall, great design, story, sound, and gameplay. I highly recommend picking this up if you seem interested in the gameplay videos.

I played this on Xbox earlier last year because of the Epic store exclusive, but I bought it on Steam once it dropped. It is as good as it was on the Xbox, if not even better for the new faster load times. Overall, I will say it is very Fallout New Vegas-like. So if you did not care for that game, you will probably not like this one.

The game has been criticized for its short story, but I prefer the smaller game with a tighter story than a 100+ hour game with a lackluster story. Yes, many of the environments look a little similar, but the theme and art styles look incredible. The story changes based on the decisions you make, and even worlds and environments will react and change. Again, this is very similar to Fallout New Vegas. Some even call it New Vegas in space, but I loved Fallout New Vegas, and I was already expecting this.

The only other gripe would be the gameplay. The shooting is standard FPS with RPG elements, which is fine and works well, but I would have liked it if there were more weapon varieties and armor types. The choices for mods help alter the playstyles a little bit, but not as game-changing as possible.

Obsidian was a small studio making this before the Microsoft purchase, so they did what they could with their limited resources. Here’s hoping they improve upon the series and formula with The Outer Worlds 2 if there will be one (fingers crossed!).

I was cyberpunked……

Overall 7/10, not awful, not great, just OK. Would wait for a sale.

Most of the bugs have been fixed, but still buggy. Wish steam had a better reviewing score base instead of the Facebook thumbs up or down review system.

SPOILERS!!!!!!

Story 6/10

"UPDATE" The bottom part still stands, but after playing more, the main story starts to get a little better, but still pretty bad and wonky. It is literally just Call of Duty in a lesser GTA Cyberpunk theme. Way over the top acting and bad dialogue are still rampant, but you can tell the old main story script starts to merge with the bad newer "rushed" script. Definitely expect a Call of Duty type of story (it is literally just like CoD with a bad main story and bad dialogue) instead of a Blade Runner thoughtful story. At least the side quest are better. Just go in expecting a lesser Call of Duty script with some RPG elements, and not something like Mass Effect or Fallout: New Vegas. If I bought it on discount and expected a cheesy story like CoD, then I would have been happier.

This game had so much potential. I don't want to knock on anyone, but I bought this after reading the reviews about how the story was great. Really, I guess if I was in my teens this would have been better. The dialogue is cringe, and the acting is mediocre, except for select characters. There is hardly any character building before people die (I guess they did this because GoT was popular?), and story parts are out of place. It seems like they had an original story back in the day; then changed the entire script. How is it you are driving and talking on a personal level with Padre in street kid and the montage, only to be introducing yourself to him again later in the game like you never seen him before? Also, the voice actor of the male V is just bad. He is different than the original voice actor we heard in the original trailers, which shows an even more convoluted story mess happened at CDPR. There are many inconsistencies with emotion too, one-minute characters show empathy to each other, then the next yelling and screaming at each other for no reason which seems out of place. Your choices are not that great either, or in most cases, they result in the same dialogue response, unlike what CDPR told us they would be like. I know; I have played through multiple instances of these choices with multiple save files.

The main story is ultimately out of place. Again, the character build-up is nil too. I did not care for anyone because they died before I could genuinely get to know them. The montage in the intro was the original game, and they cut all of that with the new re-write. I only give it a six because the side-quests are good, and there are great story arcs there. But I can tell they were probably from the original script and just tacked onto the re-worked main story. This only makes the side-quest out of place. I can keep going on the story, but there are just too many issues and inconsistencies. I am putting this on par with Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 in how disappointing this is.

Graphics 10/10

I have to give this game kudos on the detail and immersion of the graphics. Truly incredible engineering on the Red Engine team’s part. This game has fantastic graphics that compare to the Crysis days when your video cards melted. You must see the game at max settings to respect the level of detail put into this world truly (currently running with an AMD 2700X CPU, nVidia 2070 GPU, 3.0 nVME, and 32 GBs of 3200 Mhz RAM.

Sound 8/10

The sound is excellent when it works well. I give this a higher score because it will be fixed later. Bugs are of no issue to me since I play many open-world games that are buggy from the start. Also, the soundtrack is outstanding. You genuinely feel like you are in a club or a cyberpunk marketplace or hotel. Overall, great sound for the guns, environment, soundtrack, etc. It will get better when they fix the bugs.

Controls and UI 6/10

Not as refined as I would like. The cars drive pretty bad (try FPS driving mode, they drive better), and the inventory controls have glitched out quite a bit for me. Also, the UI and tutorials are all over the place on the screen. It seems the UI team could not come to a centralized decision on where to put everything. I still give it a six because you get used to the UI and the controls over time. Overall, the controls are clumsy compared to the dozens of open world games out there on PC that are refined and have a centralized UI.

Gameplay 7/10

The overall gameplay is just OK. Some say the RPG elements suck; some say they are amazing, but they are just OK. They are not bad, but they are not great. Guns mostly feel the same to me, similar to a CoD title, and the RPG elements are present but do not matter as much as most other RPGs. I was still able to make an average character that really did not matter in specialty and do everything jut about. There is some tweaking for your character, but running, gunning, and shooting overall always ends up being faster and less dragged out. Overall decent gameplay for running around in an open-world city. Also, they need transmog.

Environment 8/10

This is also where the graphics help. The environment and world are utterly amazing to see and walk around in. You feel like Night City has amazing art and a highly thought out theme. The theme and the background gang stories are fantastic too. Really, with the graphics engine and the entire world combine to give you a city, you truly feel like you are physically there. I am starting to think that is why the main story was a convoluted mess because they began to focus on the multiplayer more. After all, this entire world, I see CDPR prep for multiplayer. Sadly, this made the NPCs feel awkward, stiff, and lifeless compared to other open world games. It is still good, but not the mind bending world CDPR promised.

Overall Score 7/10

Orrrr if the main story does not matter and you await the multiplayer, 8/10

I would have to give this a 7/10 overall, to be honest. I cannot recommend it right now with the bugs and the lies from CDPR about how immersive the story would be. I was expecting old school Fallout New Vegas, or the original trilogy of Mass Effect (yes, even though the 3rd one was not as good, the overall story was still incredible), or hell, even Bioshock. Again, this is if you were like me, expecting a genuinely remarkable character setting and cohesive main story. If you want to chill and do the side-quest and anticipate the multiplayer, I can see this being much higher. The whole game seems like it is a setting for multiplayer, which I do not care for and will not play. Just go into this game with no expectations, and you might enjoy it more. Sadly I was expecting at least a Fallout: New Vegas or Outer Worlds type of story, instead I just got Call of Duty with loot/RPG elements. I highly recommend waiting and just getting it on sale.

Again these are just my thoughts and opinions and I have a lot of friends who really enjoy this game. This game has been an overall OK game for me. Later when it is cheap and bugs are fixed, I could recommend it, but it will still only be a 7/10 regardless since the game play and story are just OK.

I just finished this game after having it in my library forever, and it is good. It is the standard turn-based system but with a ton more mechanics. Your soldiers can end up getting terrified, mind-controlled, have unique abilities, and the capability to be enhanced with psi-abilities and weapons/armor. The playstyles and choices are in abundance. I also have the DLC/Expansion, not realizing it was the same game but with more choices and options, but I have not played that yet. I will do another playthrough later with the expansion added. The story is OK, the standard aliens attacking earth, and they are trying to find out why. Overall I recommend this game if you love turn-based strategy games—intense gameplay and mechanics, with an OK story.

Death stranding is a unique game. First off, if you have seen the gameplay videos, you have pretty much seen the gameplay of the game. Yes, you have a lot of equipment unlocks, and there is some combat, but it is mostly a post-apocalyptic delivery service simulator. It is also another Hideo Kojima game, so if you do not like his games, you will also be disappointed.

That said, it is exceptionally well done if you do not mind the pacing. The story is another top-notch Hideo Kojima story with more of it unlocking the more you explore the world. I like this unlocking of the story; the more you play and progress than just flying through to reach the ending. The story still makes some sense if you do this, but I highly recommend exploring more and unlocking the interviews and emails that go more in detail about the world of Death Stranding.

Also, the progression and unlocking of equipment and resources are well-paced. There is a ton of new equipment to unlock, and as you explore, you discover new items that you usually will not find otherwise. The new equipment you unlock drastically changes and alters the way you play and tackle deliveries.

On another note, the online aspect is incredible, in my opinion. I have never experienced a single-player online experience like this, and it is game-changing. The world alters as you install bridges, roads, and other devices and structures. You start to think not only how it will help you, but how it can help others.

Overall, I cannot recommend this game enough if you want a truly relaxing and innovative gameplay style that is not the usual run of the mill shooter/RPG. If you like unique games with great stories, pick up this game.

I just beat this DLC the other week. It is an excellent addition to the current base game, buutttt, as I stated in my other review for the core base game, it could also use a little bit more. This one does have a few more weapons to select and choose from, but not much. Also, we could use a few more silenced weapons since the game is heavily based on stealth, which would be nice. Finally, they do not go too deep into the characters/story again. I am feeling like their next DLCs they can make the story a priority so we can learn more about these characters. Overall, I recommend as a purchase if you love the Mutant base game, but if you are looking for more story, sadly, this does not deliver.

I will admit, I liked this little strategy gem. It has decent acting, good characters, a good story, a nice pace of combat, and the strategy mixed with the stealth was good. I have not played the X-Com series yet (still in my to playlist), but this was an excellent introduction again to strategy turn-based games like those. The only gripes I would have would be there could have been a little more story to enrich the characters and the main objectives. Also, the weapon selection was pretty limited. I mean, I kept the same stealth weapons for the entire game. Overall it was a good game, but if it had these small additions, it could have been great. I still recommend playing, though.

This game is a classic! It has been a long time since I played, but it is still a great game. On Windows 10 the Intro and the ending video do not play but can be watched on YouTube. The rest of the game plays simply fine. Lack of modern controls such as sprint and sliding crawl etc, horrible graphics and acting, but overall, amazing original experience of seeing how the Call of Duty franchise has come to be. I will admit, in the battles, you still feel the sensation of being in an actual battlefield in WWII. I highly recommend this title if you want to go down nostalgia lane.
