THIS IS INTENDED TO BE CONSTRUCTIVE - I LIKE THIS GAME, I JUST THINK IT IS IN A ROUGH STATE AS OF NOW

the game feels rough as of the time of writing (may 6 2024), here are the main outstanding problems:

the camera is too "on rails", it is impossible to aim straight forward or upwards, because the player model obstructs the view most of the time. half my shots are almost blind

gunplay is fairly balanced. maybe bigger / more forgiving hitreg?

it is hard to understand what weapon you are using at a glance, HUD is very stretched out. needs more info closer to the crosshair.

this may feel a little cluttered, but it reduces eye movement during important moments and leads to faster gameplay

maybe the ammo counter could go around the crosshair, similar to a revolver drum

The movement feels good in the air, but i feel like all momentum is lost upon touching the ground. consider a "bounce" or some sort of bunnyhopping.

a killcam or a killscreen, even a spectator mode could help in the 5 sec respawn time. with the system in use now, you just die and your screen goes completely "stuck in place".

the HUD is missing:
- a scoreboard (it's hard to know when a FFA is going to end without anything reminding you of the score)
- a killfeed (this would help you know who has which weapon or who is on a high killstreak)

the weapon pickups feel small and hard to get while just swinging by - you almost always need to fully stop your momentum to grab a weapon. also i've often had the same item pick up spawn in, the exact moment it was picked up. i understand this is not intended

in TDM, i've had 7v1 lobbies. maybe implement a way to change teams (can't join the team with more players) or vote for a scramble

I firmly believe in this game and want to see it grow and get a big, even if niche, community. This review is aimed towards the developer, and has all of my critiques on the mechanical aspects of the game.

THEY ADDED SEX

in the first 3 hours of gameplay, it made me fear for my life; not because the game is scary but because it made me lose a train to go to my girlfriend's place. she got really mad.

highly recommend

the game is portal, so it's natural that they made a tech demo out of a tech demo. the tech demo, tho, is really really underdeveloped and it's a little inconsistent: some particles make the game outright crash (energy pellet destroying) or create weird ass artifacts (idk how to describe them, triangles going over the whole screen?)

i'm definitely not on the minimum specs for the game, running a 3060ti, so i'd say the tech still needs to evolve and stuff. april 23 2023
