Very solid Vampire Survivor-like (have they coined a new genre yet?). Overall, I think I still prefer VS, but I have been playing this nonstop since I bought it. For reference, I have ~80 hours in VS and have completed all achievements and done all unlocks for base game and all DLC.

Pros:
  • Traits: The biggest improvement and gameplay change compared to VS is the trait system, where you focus on specific level up stats for your abilities. For example, if you're using a fire ability, you're able to either improve burn chance and burn damage, or just direct damage or fire rate.
  • Potion system: The potion system is awesome. If you unlock all the potions, you're able to reroll level up choices, skip certain traits/abilities from appearing again, lock in an ability/trait until you choose it, and have an ability apply two. The double up (reverb) and lock in (memory) potions are especially great.
  • Characters: There are 11 unlockable characters. Like VS, some are weaker and less fun than others. But I think most of the roster is great. Personal favorites are exterminator (flamethrower guy), shield maiden, and sage.
  • Quests: There are many, many quests to complete, which unlock either additional traits, maps, blessings (permanent stat upgrades), abilities, or gold. The game has 500 achievements, most (possibly all) of which are tied to quests.

Cons:
  • Runs are 30 minutes. I'm so used to Hyper mode in VS where time moves at double speed that I find it much harder to stay engaged towards the end of a run. They tried to remedy this with an artifact, but you need to play in Agony mode, which is harder, and it still only drops the runs down to 20 mins.
  • Difficulty: Having completed the Vault, I can't see how any character except Sage and Shield Maiden could complete it. Enemies have absurd health and swarm more than all other maps. And they don't despawn when fighting the final boss either. I have the bulk of the quests completed and have purchased almost all the blessings and the difficulty spike on the Vault surprised me.
  • Gold has no real usage once you unlock the Vault and max out the blessings. They should add a system like the eggs in VS to spend excess gold.
  • Sound: There aren't very many tracks to the soundtrack and they're all really generic. Also, the clinking sound when grabbing the level up gems bugs me far more than the VS gems.

Another banger hidden cat game from these devs. Although this genre is formulaic, these devs add a few twists to keep it interesting. For this game specifically, I enjoyed the "quests" where you find both hidden cats and their hidden items. If you like hidden cat games, this is one of the best (same with their Purrfectly Hidden Cats series).

PROS:
• Great gameplay. You have your usual hidden cats, the interactive hidden cats, a bunch of other interactible items (backpacks, doorbells, lamps, etc), quests, and a new hidden lamp mechanic.
• Cost. It's only $2.50, which is the usual price range for these types of games. It allows me to constantly buy them without realizing I've now purchased close to 50 of them.
• References. I'm not an anime expert, but there are many, many references to various anime. I didn't notice one for Yu Yu Hakusho though (I probably glossed over it), so that omission should be rectified.
•QOL Changes. I really appreciate the additional interactive items being highlighted when you click them. I might be misremembering, but I don't think the other games had that. If only humans would also stay lit up.

CONS:
• The only con I really have is that the dialogue boxes on cats stay too long for my liking. They're pretty big and can cover up other cats.

This wasn't for me. I thought it was going to be a casual business sim, but it ended up being even less complicated than that.

CONS:
*Very stale gameplay. You're doing the same thing 2 minutes into the game as you are doing 6 hours into the game. Nothing additional is ever introduced.
*RNG. Assuming you want the achievements and to progress the tiny bit of story the game has, you're left waiting for various customers to show up. The game gives you hints for some of them, but others you need to wait until they randomly show up.
*Extraneous stuff that serves no purpose. The game allows you to buy all sorts of packing materials and even additional pack-ins like candy, but you never need to use it. The pack-ins give you a slight heart bonus, but paper and filling is literally useless and only serves as a coin sink.
*Absolutely packed with LGBT stuff. I'm not sure I've ever been inundated with this type of content so hard in any video game, which is definitely not what I was expecting with a business sim. Probably half the non-DLC stickers are "pride" related. There are so many flags and genders I've never seen that I started to think I was being tricked. Every single story that involve romance features LGBT people. In one of the stories, the person made sure to explain the intricacies of being "asexual". The game needs you to make stickers with pronouns and uses language like "gingerbread person" and "gingerbread person with dress". Having this stuff is fine, I just didn't expect it and definitely not it being half the content.

Another solid entry in the Devcats' hidden cat franchise, which I consider one of the best in this vast genre. I was initially worried the free part of the game was going to take 3 minutes, but the game then opened up a much larger screen with much more things to find. The DLC greatly improves on the base game. And it has a Shrek reference! Buy it.

PROS:
*Base game is free. The DLC is affordable and VERY good. It improves on the base game with better mechanics, better music, and better themeing.
*Content. The free part is split into two sections. The first section is very easy and should only take a few minutes. Then you open the park and there are somewhere around 400 hidden objects to find (I didn't count). Other than finding cats, you also find: firecrackers, coins, tarot cards, pictures, tickets, and kittens.

The DLC is split into 8 different sections, each with a different theme. Each section has you find over 50 regular cats, 20 spookies, and 5 'hidden' cat (interactive ones where you need to click around). All in all, it doubles the amount of the base game, but I found it much more fun.
*The game has many fun Easter egg references to a bunch of different movies, games, television shows, etc. Shrek!
*The music in the DLC is fantastic.

CONS:
*No "hidden" cats in the base game. All the cats are in plain sight, there are none that require you to click on something. This means the game has less interactivity than most of the other Devcats' games. This is improved in the DLC, but it should also be included in the base game like some of the other free ones (Arcade comes to mind).
*Difficulty. Since there are no "hidden" cats, the game is easier than average. Cats also aren't integrated into the background like some other hidden cats games. The DLC is slightly more difficult, but this isn't the Dark Souls of cat games.

I was very impressed with this game from start to finish. It's a shame it's not more popular or well advertised. It wasn't even included in the recent Cat Awareness sale, when it really should've been considering it's better than many of those included (I bought and played nearly every one of them)

Pros:

*Content: There are 850 hidden objects to find. These span from regular cats, hidden cats, comic strip cats, and a hidden object that varies by level.
*Price: Base game is completely free, which is always great, but this game is far longer than most free games in this genre.
*Length: It took me 75 minutes to beat the game and I'm fairly good at these by now. The majority of the free games in this genre are 30 minutes or less, most (the 100 Cats series, for instance) take closer to 10 minutes. Considering the base game's also free, this is very long.
*Difficulty: I would say the difficulty is slightly above average. The hidden cats are easier to find that most games because they usually have a paw print marking them, but the level objects and normal cats can be very well hidden.
*Art: Whoever did the art for the game did a great job. The line work is very detailed and I appreciate the different boldness in lines. Some other games look samey. I also want to specifically mention how good the cats look. A huge issue in this genre is indescribable blobs being called cats. Here, virtually every cat looks like a cat and they're all different, instead of copy pasting a circle with ears.
*Hint system: There's a hint system.

Cons:

*DLC price. It's probably hypocritical to praise the game for all the content they're giving away for free, but then complain about the DLC price, but I'm going to anyway. I fully intended on grabbing the DLC to finish the story since I was enjoying myself so much, but stopped when I saw the DLC was $3. Now $3 isn't much, but you have to take it in context with the other games in this genre. For $3, you can buy probably 80% of these cat hidden object games. Having purchased many DLC from these types of games, I was expecting a dollar or two. I still might grab the DLC anyway since I'm hoping it'll double my playtime, but I wanted to mention the price.
* The guy's hair sucks.

This is my 20th hidden cat game (I have a problem). Overall, this is one of the best ones I've played when you take into consideration the low price, the increased difficulty, and the length of the game.

Pros:

*Content: There are 505 cats to find, spanning between 5 maps. 500 cats are regular, then there are 5 special cats that involve an item to get.
*Price: Most of these type of games are affordable, this one costs less than $2.
*Length: This one took me about 2 hours, which is pretty long. The average time for these games is usually between 30 minutes to an hour, so this was double the length. The increased length was partially due to difficulty, partially due to the amount of content (505 cats).
*Difficulty: The game is just finding pictures of cats, it's not Battletoads, but there is a wide variety in how well hidden the objects actually are. This game is probably the most difficult one I've played. You WILL need to zoom in all the way and you WILL miss the microscopic cat head that blends in with the popcorn or whatever.
*Hint system: A hardcore pro gamer like myself, I don't generally use hints, but I'll admit I used them a few times here. The game has a hint system that's free, but has a timer. That's a nice balance between making hints usable, but also stopping people from just spamming hints to beat it in 2 minutes.

Cons:

*Some of the cats are indiscernible. They would look more like random squiggles than cats and I would never have found them without the hint system. This wasn't super common, but it did happen at least once on each map.
*I would've like either more items to find or more interactivity. Many games in this genre either have some sort of interactivity (like hidden cats from clicking on things), which help keep the game interesting. The items in each map for the special cats was a nice touch, but it felt like an afterthought because it was only one item. Maybe expand on this system next game?

Honestly, I'm only giving this a recommend because it's free.

The core mechanic (hidden cats and money bags) is one of the worse versions I've played. There is a single cat sprite and a single money sprite. These aren't really hidden like most games, where they're integrated well into the background, but instead are merely camouflaged by changing their color and sometimes resized. Additionally, there are a bunch of trees in the foreground that hide objects if you're not lined up perfectly.

There's an additional music component, where each cat you find adds to a kitten choir and you can buy additional band members with the money. I enjoyed this extra gimmick because it makes it stand out from all the other (many) cat hidden object games I've played. It's just a shame the actual hidden object part of the game was so underwhelming.

This is a really fun game. It's called Castle Crashers. There's a crab boss at the end. (Review dictated by my 5 year old)

I have a problem where I can't stop playing cat hidden object games, and this is a solid choice in that genre.

Pros:
* It has a decent amount of content, especially for the price. There are over 200 cats to collect, spanning between four maps. I prefer games with sub sections instead of one massive map where there are hundreds to collect. After you find all the cats, there are 5 additional cats for each map. I'm not sure why they went this route because these cats are arguably easier to find, but whatever. There are also a bunch of achievements tied to clicking other, non-cat objects.
* It's under a dollar. The game's not long (I finished all achievements right at 30 minutes), but you can't complain when the game is so affordable.
*Somewhat more difficult to find everything compared to similar games. In each of the four rooms, I was missing a cat after doing my first pass through the map and I'm pretty good at finding things in my first sweep. The cats vary in size and some are quite small, which makes it harder.

Cons:
* Cats could be integrated into the picture better. In a lot of these games, the cats are disguised as part of the scenery, sometimes taking weird shapes. There not much of that in this game. This is more of a stylistic thing, but I prefer the oddball cats.
*There's a cat in the kitchen that doesn't look like a cat at all. It's hidden behind some utensils so you can't actually see any of the body. You can see the eyes, but they're really far apart compared to other cats and they're also slightly misaligned.

I'll keep playing these as long as Devcats continues to make them. I'd say these games are my guilty pleasure, but I don't feel guilty.

This is probably the shortest of all the Cats games (it took 30 minutes for the base game and 30 minutes for DLC). It's also the simplest of all the Cats games, with no extra interactvity (mini puzzles like in Arcade or sub levels like all the other games). It's just pure cat seeking on a single big map. I'm not complaining because it's free for the base game and the DLC costs less than $2. It's also for a good cause. Please make a Castle Full of Cats 2, after the Building sequel!
