day/night cycle is a joke (more like an obstacle where NPCs vanish) and at this point in my life, i don't have time to travel all the way back from a dungeon when i'm done with it.

I'm 38 years old and at this point in my life, I don't have time to kill a boss with 2 billion HP.

The game itself is really good. Over the top VFX and sound design is really satisfying.

Waiting a 6 hour long queue to play (mostly) solo is unacceptable in 2022. But I've gone past that.

You must face the harsh reality of the meta. It's designed to be a "dealer". They give you all the dopamine boosters like flashy vfx, excellent powerplay, washing you with an immense amount of materials etc upfront, and then they slowly start to introduce RNG into the possibility of upgrading your items. Item level is literally a blocker for your game progress btw. And it's totally random.

So at some point you just start to grind for materials to upgrade your gear, you spend half an hour to clear a dungeon, and all that material is "pooof", gone within seconds with a failed upgrade attempt. I would be okay with this if the workaround for this wasn't spending more money.

There's this consumable item that is very rare, that you can use to increase the chances of a successfull upgrade, only by 2% per item consumed. You can buy it with money. I won't bother explaining the rest...

In my book, it's perfectly fine to pay for cosmetic stuff etc, or hell, even a monthly fee. But a game blocking your progress (by driving you mad) unless you pay? It's the biggest sin a developer can commit. Sorry I don't have time for that.

not fun

besides the "portals" mechanic (that's been experimented to death anyways) it's one of those generic bubble gum unreal engine template fps shooters with subpar gunplay.

i feel like all the "omg we can't keep up with more than 100.000 players because our servers can't handle more" articles on video game websites were FOMO-induced marketing runs.

for one match, i teleported somewhere super high where no one bothers to look at and i examined players with my sniper scope. turns out almost (and probably) all players were bots, running around mindlessly and idling for half a second every 5 seconds (to roll a new "decision" for the ai i guess). if it's some kind of hidden "onboarding" feature, just know that it cost you a player. if i wanted babysitting for the first couple of matches, i'd go play pubg mobile...

if you have "geforce now" etc to give it a try without even downloading it, go ahead. otherwise, not worth downloading.

Out of all the retro FPS games I've played (and I've played a lot), this might be the best one (sharing the throne with ULTRAKILL). User generated maps is a big plus.

The idea "Overwatch + Rocket League" sounds really fun on paper but unfortunately it's not even 5% fun compared to them. The graphics are really polished, but the game design and controls are really poor. Hope they work it out and the game succeeds.

As a "space dogfight", gameplay-wise honestly I think EVE: Valkyrie was light-years ahead of this. But overall production value, insanely detailed visuals, top notch sound design and of course the Star Wars franchise makes it worth the price.
