Nice metroidvania game with some light puzzling.

There is a horror tag on this game and I don't get why. Sure there is some pixel-gore but other than that I can't see why someone would see this as a horror game. Maybe that you play as the monster but that is exactly why I don't find any horror elements in this.

Great gameplay, good story and the pacing of unlocks and rewards is perfect. Something that makes this better than many other rogue-likes I've played is the way you can mitigate some of the randomness.

A tip though, don't be afraid to use the nectar and ambroshia. I held on to them a bit to much early on and that ended up making the game a bit of a grind later on.

Best rogue-like I have played.

Being a fan of metroid-vanias I was excited for this game. Playing Curse of the Moon made me more excited! To bad this game is stuck in the past.

If this game had released 25 years ago the game mechanics would have been on par with what was out at the time. This is a game overflowing with nostalgia in a really bad way. Clunky movement, a COMPLETELY useless dodge and animations that makes everything feel .

Combat is very clunky with one melee button. Pushing it multiple times, Miriam does the same attack animation over and over again. You can find new attacks in the style of fighting game combinations for to specific weapon types. I didn't use these because I don't have the time to use them during combat and it's hard to get the combination right. It was more effective to just smash the only attack button .

The dodge only moves you backwards in the opposite direction of where Miriam is facing. This means that if you are running away from an enemy and want to dodge an incomming attack you have to face towards the enemy before you press the dodge button or else you will dodge into the enemy. Why even have a dodge?! I dodged more damage just jumping away from enemy attacks.

That in itself wouldn't be a big problem if it wasn't for the poor choice of giving enemies huge contact damage! Not like in Blasphemous where you take a smaller amount of damage, nooo, that would be reasonable! You take damage as if the enemy attacked you! I... I don't understand how this is in the game! This coupled with the fact that hit boxes is off at best and completely unfair most of the time gives me a feeling of the game being unfinished.

This is a hard game, but hard in a bad way. Like the game giving you the finger with bad controls, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hit boxes and attacks that are just unnessarily hard to pull off. Did I mention the awful dodge?!

I will not recommend this game for anyone. But if you're one of those people that think that games should be like they were 20-30 years ago you should get this game, this is what you deserv. You are wrong though, games was not better back then and you should take those rose-tinted nostalgia glasses off and play some of those old games to realize they were bad back then too. If you still think they were better than what you play today, fine... you're still wrong though.

Amazing puzzle game. Later puzzles can get tricky but I wouldn't call them hard, more like it might take some time to figure them out... Which some people might call hard, I don't know... Really recommend it!

Great action in the same vein as Hotline Miami with an entertaining story.
Took a while to get into the flow of the game but when I got it I was cuting down people like a pro.
The speed run mode was really nice but very challenging, atleast for me.

Fantastic game and without a doubt a recommended buy for any gamer into action and violence!

Do you like rhythm games, atleast a little bit? Do you own a VR headset?
If you answered yes on both of these and you don't own this game yet, BUY IT NOW!

Hitting blocks with lightsabers timed to music has never been more satisfying!

If you need a game to keep you up at night thinking "I should go to sleep, I'm just going to finish this thing" and after you're done with that thing you're thinking "I should go to sleep, I'm just going to finish this other thing" then here is the game for you!

The game is made up of a world map where you walk around chosing levels nad talking to the inhabitant of Inkwell Isle. There are two kinds of levels; boss levels and run-and-gun levels. Boss levels are the main part of the game and run-and-gun levels kan go ♥♥♥♥ them selfs!

The graphics are awesome and makes the game feel really smooth. You feel the care that gone into making all the animations.

The controls are spot on and I always felt like I was the reason I died and not the game doing something odd. Have had one or two odd bugs but other then that I mostly facepalmed from bad timing on my part.

Every boss level feels uique and just like most challenging games you complete fights by trial and error, learning more for every time you die (okey, maybe not every time). Every time you retry a boss you move closer to killing it by learning the patterns of the boss.

I love challenging games and this game is no exception, easily the best game of 2017 in my book!
