EDIT:
I've finally caved after holding out for so long and am updating my original positive review of Hunt. I didn't want to do this for a long time, as I loved my time getting my mitts dirty in the Bayou, but a lot of the choices the devs/Crytek has decided to approve for Hunt have been further removing the game from what I think the target idea was. As I've seen and heard many other avid Hunters saying, I almost feel as if the game is becoming more of a husk of what it was, as the new content seems to detract/distract from a lot of the changes that are necessary but not happening, and they almost seem to be trying to drown out valid concerns for the game with these updates. For example, the server health that they have been mentioning fixing since 1.8 release? Still waiting on that properly hit the masses. One might think that the servers should be less messy for a game that's been in full release for >4 years. New content? Like how some of us are wanting to see some trials available for DeSalle? No, try more shotguns that severely (and negatively) alter the market positioning and realistic choices available (think the Slate almost essentially making the Spectre obsolete given price range and capability, as well as requisite traits, meanwhile ignoring balancing the Terminus to give it a proper place in the pool of options). Other mechanics that I see detracting and essentially completely disregarding what the initial picture of Hunt was supposed to be is the remote spotting mechanic with the beetle. I know I sound like a broken record drone of "beetle bad," but my point is that part of the rush in Hunt was using sound cues or visual cues around your player with high-risk scenarios in order to achieve the high reward of surviving and even getting a bounty token or two. With this "droning" mechanic, it takes away from the grittiness of using other critical thinking skills to assess the situation and plan accordingly. The mechanic itself just does not fit the environment and aura of the game. I guess I'm just some bitter dude who's looking back through rose colored glasses about the "golden days" of Hunt. If only some of that crazy attention to detail (which is amazing, mind you) in the weapons and other items translated over to the health and feel of the game.

The game was great in 2014, but all of these updates and redesigns have ruined the once solid gameplay style it had.
