Fun MSX tribute, think a straightforward La-Mulana with a very simplified lite Metroidvania progression.

I'm hoping the dev's later Maze of Galious tribute (Pampas & Selene: The Maze of Demons) incorporates puzzles, more secrets, a larger and more complex map, and more of a sense of progression as you go. For $2, this mini-sized MSX game is pretty fun though!

The physics are kind of a joke but it's like a joke you and your husband are both in on.

Absolute fire from beginning to end. Incredible visuals, flawless sound design, and smart updates to the original that feel completely seamless- looking back you'll wonder why the hell Isaac was ever a silent protagonist in the first place.

Something about survival horror remakes must lend themselves to incredible remakes. They also seem to lend themselves to commercial unviability since EA committed the crime of not letting Motive make an original title in the series after this incredible work.

I don't know why the reviews are so negative, this looks and feels like a game made by a very small team that's quite a ways out from release, but I like some of the ideas and it honestly didn't feel that bad to play.

If this did actually come out in 2025 and they're planning to hit release this year, I don't see how that's happening, but as a free early demo I'd rather judge what's here than try to predict what might happen in the future.

Link's Awakening coded with some questionable control design decisions (preserving forward momentum after swinging your sword, swinging your sword after *releasing* the button being the default), and not super well-made picross/nonogram puzzles that are annoyingly needed for 100% achievements.

Hardcore fans of the series get an interesting enough finale and some decent character development and writing, with a clunky, mediocre, and oddly puzzle-heavy action game tacked on to your usual visual novel elements.

Those who weren't impressed with Danganronpa's anime trope characters and frequently horny writing, who were maybe carried by the killing game premise, will spot a largely problematic and exploitative game with as rough of a chapter 3 as other reviews make it out to be. I think once you get to a tongue-in-cheek minigame where you have to stop the main character from being groped you are past the point where a wink at the audience gets you a pass and just getting into lechery.

There is absolutely room for multiple Wario Land style games in the indie space, though I would say this is definitely the weirder, harder companion to Pizza Tower for the person who played that a ton and wants more. Movement has a much higher skill ceiling and even just completing some levels in the combo mode is harder than most P ranks in Pizza Tower.

I was enamored by the core concept shown in the trailers and purchased it at launch, but got a bit bored after going through the swamp and put it down. Came back and finished after the "streamlined mode" was added which does remove a lot of the stop-start flow of things.

Overall it was fun but I wouldn't say it quite explored the main 2D-3D concept fully enough, and I likely won't return to it. Would recommend on sale.

Upper tier for RPG Maker walk-talk-occasional dialogue option style games. I assume this is what it feels like to grow up in the closet in a small town.
