One of the best coop games out there. Great community too with minimal toxicity unlike certain other team based games.

When people talk about this game, I've often heard them say something along the lines of, "I was totally burnt out on gaming... the shooters, RPGs, the same old formula... but this game has me hooked again because it's distilled the gaming formula back to pure fun." I've heard this over and over, and they're totally right. Rocket League has managed to capture that pure fun factor that we all originally became hooked on games for, and put it in a super polished, shiny package.

You're having doubts, right? That's why you're reading the reviews. To be honest, I had the same thoughts when I first saw the game played on many popular Twitch streams. "Looks fun... but only for a few games... a few hours tops. I'd try it... but not for $20."

So what did I do? I "acquired" it and gave it a shot... and was immediately put off. Not because it wasn't fun, but because I could barely even hit the ball. No way would I ever be able to play it properly. But then I played another game. And another. I made a goal here and there, and each time, I felt an excitement that made me keep wanting to play. I ended up buying the game on Steam 10 minutes after that third game, and have been playing it ever since.

The great thing about this game is a feeling of progression each time you play. The game isn't drastically changing with each patch like a MOBA - rather, the way the game plays out is largely based on your own skill, and a bit of luck. As you play more and more, you can feel it paying off as you naturally start to make better plays. Not unlike a real sport.

And as you continue to improve, you'll learn more about advanced mechanics, and eventually, actually be able to do them well. Not many moments in gaming match the feeling I had the first time I soared through the air to score my first aerial goal.

Rocket League is full of those moments.
