Early Access Review
I will start this review by stating I feel like there is *something* good here with some solid potential. And that I received a review copy for free.

HOWEVER

At the time writing this game is absolutely NOT worth purchasing unless you a hardcore believer in the project and the idea this game will one day actually be worth your time. With a wopping $43.95AUD ($30 Freedom Dollars) price tag, at this stage you're getting nothing more than a glorified demo. A demo which unfortunately doesn't even have a tutorial to help introduce you to the game.

Some might hand wave this criticism away by saying "well of course there's no tutorial, it's Alpha". Unfortunately this doesn't fly, with most indie games bringing solid tutorials to the table and with a huge price tag it's inexcusable to not have one at this stage. This means that it will be a difficult sell to get the average player to give this game the time it needs to see any potential at all.

Maybe the game is trying to be endearingly obtuse in the style of games like Rimworld or Dwarf Fortress (which I adore) but this misses the mark entirely. Instead it fills the roll of being sweet relief to yeet into the uninstall pile until such a time as it's in a playable state.

I will mention briefly bugs, lack of content (for price) an sloppy lack of attention to detail like overflowing text fields etc. but no doubt these will be things that are addressed in time.

Think of purchasing this game as an early investment and purchase with faith it will be more than it is now. Because right now the game VS the price point is just WAY too far away from each other. My rec if you're interested is wishlist, forget this exists for a couple of years and come back to see if it's worthwhile then.

Having played Wurm Online for 15years+ both in PvP and PvE I can firmly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys sandbox games.

Wurm defintley is slow and grindy, however this nature is also one of it's greatest assets - the slow pace makes the game very relaxing. And the grindy nature allows for every acheivement, no matter how menial is very satisfying.

If you are looking for fast paced gameplay or instant gratification, this game is NOT for you. However if you're looking a mature game that you can relax and enjoy true sandbox freedom in, I only have one thing to say.....Welcome Home.

Happy Wurming all!
