Metapor has interesting story elements and a unique method of narration. It features a familiar, but slightly different combat system from other titles made by Atlus. There's many moments that draw you in because of their sheer difference in expectation - however it is not absent of the predictable feats of a hero's journey.

The game is very similar to any of the Persona games, it even shares some of the familiar skills you're used to.

What I liked;
- Voiced dialogue is excellent (I played in English)
- Combat feels good (versatile ways to play that do not restrict the player to classic JRPG class limitations)
- Story was unique in it's own story-telling, there are plenty of moments where I'm driven to know what happens next
- World-building is extravagant given it is a unique setting and universe - many questions you would have regarding politics, economy, culture is already established and discussed in proper show and tell fashion (thankfully not relying fully on spoken exposition)
- Methods of grinding XP, items, etc is streamlined to not take as long as a traditional JRPG
- Following Persona 3 Reload, the UI and character portraits look excellent

What I did not like;
- Some parts of the game can feel drawn out, especially certain acts that hold their tension for quite a while with the climax points being moved constantly
- Certain dialogues that seem important may seem very shorthanded or skimmed over without much emphasis
- [Personal opinion] Many enemies may 'generate' their turns with zero resource cost and without consequence, which is a sort of game defying component to the combat which your party and other enemies need to follow.

Overall I would rate this game a 8/10 , there is some small nuisances - but those mostly fall to personal dislikes. There is no need to really follow a guide either since many of the things you would expect to miss in a game like this are reminded to you and mentioned quite a bit by your companions.

Happy adventuring, Seeker.

Play one of the most wishy washy main characters you've ever seen while enjoying a game that actually rewards exploration in an open world setting.

How did we get from this to 2021 Ubisoft?
