I had a lot of fun getting into Eden Genesis! I'm not very co-ordinated so I found it a bit tough but folks who play these kinds of games more often would have no dramas at all. It's quite forgiving in the mechanics and I managed to get a decent way into the game despite my lack of skill. It is a LOT easier on a controller and Steam will prompt you to use one when you go to open the game so there is fair warning. I tried to muddle through with keyboard for a bit but I couldn't get my head around it. Connected a controller and it was instantly better. The voice acting is great, music is beautiful, and the graphics are gorgeous. It's a delightful game that I think anyone who loves retro games and platformers will genuinely love.

I really loved this game! It's the kind of thing you can pick up and play a few rounds with very little stress :) The background music is lovely, the graphics are simple and cute, and the gameplay is really smooth once you get the hang of it! Also, sheep <3

I was sent a code for this delightful town builder and was super keen to check it out! The game is smooth, engaging, and a lot of fun. It definitely had me scratching my head at times as I tried to plot the best placement of my buildings, but the satisfaction of maxing out a building was unbeatable! The soundtrack is gorgeous, the aesthetic is lovely, and it's just a chill experience. It's the kind of game you can burn hours on without even realising (and I did). Definitely recommend this one if you want something low pressure to just chill out and click around in. I'd love to see a Switch port...

Overall

Genuinely enjoyed this one. The story isn't massively deep or complex but the puzzles certainly are. I did find myself looking up not necessarily solutions but some kind of understanding of the logic for a couple of puzzles because I locked myself into thinking a certain way and could NOT break out of it. There's a few bits and pieces to go back and replay for achievements but honestly for the price and the length of the game, I'm super happy and feel I more than got my money's worth.

Accessibility Issues

This is a big one for me because there is no Accessibility menu in the game, and the game has not particularly done anything to reduce the need for one. There's one very large section of the game where the camera swings wildly (and given you are making a lot of turns, that's about every few seconds) and is an absolute nightmare for folks who suffer from motion sickness. Every time you move from one section to another the screen does a violent glitch effect and during portions of the game, this effect continues for sustained periods of time. It's bad enough in the single glitches but this is really bad design when there is no ability to remove what is a serious migraine and epilepsy trigger. I would strongly recommend folks who suffer from migraines or epilepsy to check out gameplay online before purchasing.

Control Issues

OK I know every other review brings this up but it IS a really frustrating feature of the game. The controls are just directions keys (WASD), and space. That's it (aside from ESC to bring up the pause/exit menu). Interacting with objects? Space. Want to check your inventory? Space. Want to close dialogue? Space. It can make navigating some of the puzzles incredibly irritating as you're reaching for a back button that simply doesn't exist. I read that the devs did this for accessibility reasons - simplified buttons to make it so everyone can play with limited dexterity. As someone who has issues with fine motor skills, I did not find this helped with accessibility in the least. There may be others who find otherwise - disability is not the same for any two people - but for me all it did was make me annoyed every time I had to spin my character around to open the inventory rather than trigger a puzzle or item. For moments where you're going back and forwards between inventory and a puzzle... not good.

More good stuff tho

The good of this game far outweighed the bad for me. As I mentioned, it was a great length and I loved the puzzles. The artistic design of the game is phenomenal and I loved the experience of the black and white with splashes of pinky red. The soundtrack is STELLAR (but I wish there was consistently more of it and that it didn't just disappear when you click on a puzzle). I found it very engaging and looked forward to every session. I appreciated that the game rolled out all of the information you needed to get through it, even if I sometimes got frustrated because I couldn't do things in the order that *I* wanted to. It was perfect for scratching that itch of wanting to do some serious thinking. Take your time with this and enjoy it :)

Pro Tip

Save often. Save everywhere. Save every time you solve a puzzle or unlock a new area. Just do it.

I had a lot of fun with this one! The puzzles were puzzling, the vibes were immaculate, and you can definitely feel just how much the devs are of retro point and clicks. It was all of the feeling of playing through something like Monkey Island, and I genuinely enjoyed most of the puzzles. Had to get help with a couple of places where I straight up missed something and ended up going in circles but that's a me thing more than a game thing. Most of the voice acting was well done and a lot of fun but there was what sounded like an Aussie trying to do an American accent that was definitely... something... but for the most part everyone did well with their roles. I loved the colours in the worlds that were created and would love to see more in this game, maybe a sequel?

It took me about 3.5hrs to complete, which is honestly what I expected for the price of the game so I felt it was good value for money. Others cleared it a lot faster, but I was taking my time and clicking on everything. Still a few bits and pieces I want to go back and get though...

If you enjoy retro games and point and click adventures, this is definitely the game for you! Come check it out and support our indie devs :)

When I initially installed the game, I tried to start a new file and it got frozen on the loading screen. Uninstalled and reinstalled and it's been working perfectly ever since so not sure what happened there. I was super stoked to play Cuisineer after visiting the stall at PAX Melbourne and the game has genuinely lived up to my expectations so far. It's super cute, the controls are easy to work out, and it's a lot of fun! I made it to the second floor of the dungeon and the difficulty definitely jumped a bit, but it still felt manageable. I love the concept and excited to see where it goes!

Now that I've finished the game, I see where folks were coming from with the mixed feelings about the game. 99% of the game is brilliant. It's thoughtful, well made, visually gorgeous... but the ending felt like it was made that way for no real purpose other than to be edgy edgelords. It ruined my outlook on the game quite significantly as it sort of ♥♥♥♥ all over the character development that happens throughout the game .

It took me about 23hrs to clear with a few side quests completed, so I feel the pricing on it is fair and tbh this is my sweet spot for game length. I didn't feel like it dragged on at all, and it was long enough to explore things nicely. The music is a 10/10, art is 10/10, gameplay is a solid 8/10 and I'll recommend the game, but I have conflicted feelings about just how genuinely my recommendation is given how cheated I felt by it.

This game was such a pleasure to explore!! I loved the characters, the art, the music, and all of the gameplay mechanics. The game was a good length for the price and I never found my attention wandering. Some of the puzzles took me longer to work out than I'd like to admit, but despite the fact that the game doesn't fully hold your hand I was never left feeling lost for too long. 10/10 game and I definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys graphic novels and puzzles :)
