I have been excited for this game for years. I have played as a beta tester for a last few months and it is much better than its competition in all ways( I have plenty of hours in all of them). Shooting is accurate, but not too accurate, it still takes some learning to understand wind and drop at difference distances. Melee is also better than both, with a lot of skill and timing coming into play.
Even with this art style, the immersion is still very much there as well. Seeing huge 500 man line battles is a great experience.
The devs are also wonderful and have listened to the testers through out development.
They have also implemented a map maker which will help keep maps from becoming stale/old. Lastly, they also have mods which will increase the amount of game modes (such as current WW1 mod)

Fantastic game. I have played Scourge of War Waterloo some and have recently been playing a lot of Grand Tactician:The Civil War, but somehow never noticed this game until very recently. It is exactly the type of game I want and I already know I will spend many hours on it. My only wish is that more battles would be made(Edit: I have now purchased Scourge of war Gettysburg, but still wish all the major battles were on the Take Command System). Controlling different levels of command is such a cool idea. The AI is top notch too especially when considering how old the game is. I played the first level 3 times and the battle played out 3 different ways depending on what I tried. That is when I knew I'd love this game. 10/10 game. Must buy if you are into Civil War Strategy.

This game is well worth the $20. You get a ton of awesome songs that either were already on my personal workout playlist, or were quickly added after I played it on this game. Game plays like a mix of Beat saber and Rock band drummer, but with awesome Metal music. My Viking ancestors would enjoy. I already know I will put plenty of hours into this game.

Updated Review: I originally wrote a review at around 20 hours, there were a TON of bugs and the game barely worked. That is not the case anymore and now have 220 hours.
This game has come a long way and I believe that it will eventually be a fantastic game. Right now there are some bugs but nothing too gaming breaking, most players know this and the fixes are coming out. That is what the early access is for.

This will eventually be the best Civil war game out there.

Very fun game, try not to take it too seriously.

Scratches that musket itch with a more casual feel. Tons of fun just playing random matches.

Haven't done a unit match yet, but hope to try it as it seems like it would be a lot of fun as well.

Another great Total War installment. I love art style and the look of it all, it's very vibrant and really draws me in. While I still find Throne's of Britannia's combat more enjoyable due to Shield wall lines, the Three Kingdoms battles are better overall due to the better AI, the different units and different styles of Heroes/Hero Dueling. I love when guys stop fighting to watch a duel go down, especially if the battle is already over and it is just one of their remaining Generals fighting for his honor. If he survives the duel, I may let him live..

Great Total war game, especially if you are interested in The Last Kingdom. My fandom aside, I like the addition of needing food for armies and the timing and requirements to recruit new units with only a limited number. You can't just spam a bunch of the same units. I also liked the family tree and governing system with estates, actions, followers and new abilities that characters randomly get based on what they do or what is in/happening in there area. Characters develop as you play. Also, I love a good shield wall.
