Delmon Young is a former professional baseball player who played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB). Born on September 14, 1985, in Camarillo, California, Young was highly regarded as a top prospect during his minor league career. He was selected first overall by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (now Tampa Bay Rays) in the 2003 MLB Draft.

Young made his MLB debut in 2006 with the Devil Rays and later played for several teams, including the Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Phillies, and Baltimore Orioles. Known for his hitting ability, Young was a powerful right-handed batter, though his career was also marked by inconsistency and some off-field controversies.

He had his best seasons with the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers, making an impact as a key offensive contributor. His 2012 season with the Tigers was especially notable, as he helped the team reach the World Series. Young was also named the American League Championship Series (ALCS) MVP that year.

Though his playing career slowed down in the latter years, Young remained a notable figure in the league for his bat and ability to hit for power. He retired from professional baseball after the 2017 season.
