In 34 years of gaming, I've never been so addicted to a game. Haven't touched any other games in about 3 weeks now.

Exactly what I was hoping for and expecting after Streets of Rage 4. Damn near perfect.

This game is an insult to the fans of the originals, and I mean that literally - the dialogue and story are full of insults, aimed at players of the classics. Akka's review pretty much nailed it, so read that for more info.

I've never gotten Steam to refund me for a game before but I'm considering getting a refund for this one. If you're looking for a new beat 'em up that feels as good to play as the classics but brings in features from more modern games, go with Streets of Rage 4.

I can't speak for anyone that is just now discovering ToeJam & Earl but, as someone who's been waiting for a sequel like this to be made since the 90's, I think the game is perfect and exactly what I wanted. It's essentially a 4-player online remake of TJ&E 1, with features and characters from Panic on Funkotron and Mission to Earth (I think; I've never played it) added to the mix. It plays a little differently to the original TJ&E, obviously, but for me at least, it has the perfect balance of new features vs. features reminiscent of the classic TJ&E games.

As it's still new, there are still some bugs, but they are gradually being patched out. They've also been adding some awesome new features, and more are in the works which should extend the game's replayability for anyone that's bored of the existing game modes. They have a forum for posting bug reports and feature/improvement requests, and it's full of interesting suggestions, which the developers are paying close attention to and working hard to add the best ones.
