Me like big robot, very cool Miyazaki

Probably my second favorite roguelike behind Slay the Spire. Gameplay is good, variety is good, look and feel are good, soundtrack is amazing. Difficulty options don't feel different enough, but some of the characters will offer more than enough challenge to make up for lackluster hard modes.

Okay so, there are some pretty obvious performance issues with this game, and toward the end it gets a bit tropey to the point where you'll probably think "I've done this boss fight before," but as a whole the experience was really good if your machine can actually run the game. The combat feels stupid at first, but once you've obtained the baton, a gun, and the GRP it makes a lot of sense and feels really good to me. Definitely worth it if you can get it on sale and have a PC that can run it at high settings.

I bought this game on a whim because the art style looked cool and it was on sale. Really glad I did. From the ground up the game feels like it's designed to make sure you relax and take your time. No combat means no min/maxing, the world is wonderfully rendered and the artstyle makes even mundane desert landscapes seem vibrant and alive as you fly across them on your bike. The puzzles are entertaining, and the storyline is good, but really this game is about simply cruising around to a stellar soundtrack and finding neat little things along the way. Absolutely one of my favorite games of 2021.
