WARNING: SPOILERS

My personal rating? 5/10

This game, for what it's worth, is overall fun to go through. The sound design, environments, varying species (I'm looking at you Turgle), fighting animations, and kill animations are all very pleasing on the ears and eyes. But, that's only when the game WORKS, and doesn't crash within the first 15 minutes of launching due to the games optimisation for PC being broken since day 1, minute 1. Beyond this, when you can get in some solid gameplay, the exploration is great.

But to this day, 89 hours later, I'm confused.
Despite the game being overall pleasant to play, by the time you finish the entire story and you reflect back on what you just played, a thought dawns.. What just happened?
To put it simply, the story is just chaotic. It's almost as if there's too many things trying to be fit into one game: the High Republic era and Dagan Gera, whatever the hell happened with Bode, and to top it off, Cere's story with the Hidden Path. To put it simply...

1. Bode's betrayal is one that never should have happened. I can almost let it slide that Cal couldn't detect Bode's deception, but lets be real, in what world would TWO JEDI MASTERS (Cere and Eno) have been so blinded?

2. The entire High Republic/Dagan Gera storyline could have been its own game. Period. There's so much to unpack with this character and the the events leading up to the discovery of Tanalorr that were either glossed over, shown briefly in force echoes, or explained away through dialogue. This was a missed opportunity to create a standalone game that explored a time in Star Wars history that hasn't been explored a lot in media adaptation.

3. It's understandable that developers may have wanted to focus on something different, and step away from telling a story focused simply on what happened between RoTS and New Hope (as we've been able to witness through things such as the animated Rebels show)-- but a large opportunity was missed, and not utilised to its full potential. Cere's journey with the Hidden Path is unique. It's new, and was first introduced to us through the Obiwan TV Series. There is so much to the Hidden Path and Jedha (not already shown in Rogue One) that failed to be shown here in this game.

As a follow up to the first instalment, this game failed to meet the same mark that Fallen Order was able to create-- at least in my eyes.

TL;DR-- This game is a perfect example of favouring Quantity over Quality.

2k hours later... I still stand by it. There's a lot about this game that isn't necessarily the best (pay walls, lack of story content, particular pvp devs in the past, issues people have with r4 anomaly and devs not following through on promises, scaling levels, etc), but hopefully with this Broadsword development, a lot of these issues can be fixed. If you're getting into this game for the first time, you have a LOT to look forward to. When you find yourself at the point of having completed everything story related, however, it gets quite stagnant. If you're prefer singleplayer, you're strongly pushed to join the multiplayer scene by the end of it all. There's a lot to be fixed with this game, but overall it's a solid experience, especially for new players.
