simultaneously the most fun and frustrating game to play

I'm going to give an in-depth review of Darwin Project coming from someone who went from a casual player with 1000 average players to someone still playing in a small niche community of less than 200 players.

-----MY EXPERIENCE------

I started playing this game in may of 2018, right before they implemented the tile system. I was a bad player who played casually with one other friend who just came into the community. This game back then really revolved around the top 100, playing against some of the best players in pubs in hoping just maybe you could kill them. Back then when I killed anyone deemed good or had a silver skin, I felt really accomplished. Showed I was getting better and better. I realize now it's kinda cringy, I know, but I loved fighting the best players. This lasted for awhile, I started getting better and the top 100 scene was pretty big. Every 2 weeks grinding for T100 to play for silver/gold. I never got silver, choked it twice (those who know, know). I felt so disappointed in myself. Around patch 1.13 is when the player base started to dwindle. This is where I made some of my best friends. We would hop in discord and play pubs with each other, having fun. I've made friendships with some of the most genuine people I could imagine. I still play today with some of the best people to ever play, some stay on the sidelines and stream/manage the community. For the most part though, those who came into the community and liked it, stayed.

-------GAMEPLAY/COMPETITIVE-------

Besides the fact I made so many friends from darwin, this game is without a doubt one of the best competitive games I have ever played. When you play Darwin, there is little randomness. If you lost to someone, they either played better, or you made more mistakes. That is it. You messed up, or you got s*** on. It is the most rewarding game I have played, Period. Even now, I took a break from the game and came back. I feel like I've never played better. This game makes it so you can continue to grow in skill, there is no cap. It is some of the most in depth combat you will find.

--------CONS---------

Currently as the game sits, there are little players. Only reason I can still play games consistently is because the Darwin community made itself. We manage discords and manage scrims/tournaments ourselves. You will find games here and there if you queue for public matches, but they won't be full 10 man games and you often won't have a director. Through all this, if you queue and ask around, you can get links to the Darwin discords to play scrims and open games with people.

-----CONCLUSION------

QUESTION: SHOULD YOU DOWNLOAD DARWIN?

ANSWER:
If you want some of the best gameplay you can find, especially if you're trying to fill the void of a battle royal, you should. If you don't want to dedicate time to the community and dedicate time to getting better, still do! This game does still have casual players, the game isn't filled with all sweats. For the most part however, this game is still pretty dead. We would still love to have you guys download and play to try and revive a game I truly love. If you read this far, you're a trooper.

TL;DR: Great game, kinda dead tho.
