Is a pretty good game, but u have to keep a healthy mental attitude towards the game, which is a big problem for many players of this game.

NOTE: even though my review is mostly positive, there's a HUGE issue if you want to be playing competitively.
The built-in aim assist/aimbot is very, very strong, and playing against controller players feels not unlike playing against aimbots in CS. You will either want to get absolutely cracked at aiming, or get something like reWASD for firefights to feel epic.

That aside,

The game is very enjoyable and may very well be my GOTY of 2023.

The GAMEPLAY is very fast-paced and fluent, I especially love the movement which feels very fluid, almost Mirror's Edge-like. With movements mechanics like ziplines and jump pads, the movement really can become an expression of skill.

The MAP DESIGN is GREAT, with exception of Las Vegas (on time of review the latest map) which is just decent, but is by far the weakest map of the bunch. There are 4 maps, which may sound like not a lot, but they really went quality over quantity on this one, I don't think I've played multiplayed maps this good and finetuned since Quake 3.

The class variety is pretty cool, gives a lot of options for VERY different playstyles (depending on your loadout, it may feel like a completely different game) and the progression system is very inoffensive (I unlocked everything in about the first 40 hours) and it's pretty obvious which items will fit your playstyle so you can get them early on.

However, the class variety brings an unlucky problem if you are trying to solo queue in Ranked - the Light class. The Light class is fun to play and can be useful under right circumstances, but too many Light players pretty much suck and when you get matched up with a Light duo - you might as well throw the game, you are playing it practically solo. I don't want a role queue to be introduced to the game, it will make it more boring and stale, but getting matched up with a light duo really should be banned or at least strongly discouraged by the matchmaking algorithm, imho.

Overall, the game is a very strong contender for a personal 10/10, however issues with the way-to-strong aim assist and matchmaking make it impossible to just enjoy the game to it's fullest all the time, it's bad enough for the final score to be

A classic. One of the best pure FPS experiences still. Great multiplayer. However, Xen levels kinda suck.
