Easy game to learn and play.

Features:
Modern retro graphics
Well produced soundtrack for each level that blends nicely with the game sound notifications
Progression of difficulty with each additional play through.
Character upgrades
All ages appropriate
Steam achievements
Steam trading cards

My Thoughts:
If playing straight through to get achievements, the repeated play throughs may get tedious to some. Despite the fact that additional game play throughs feature the same level graphics and music, for myself I found working on upgrading my heros stats to smash as many enemies as quickly as possible enough of a mental diversion to continue enjoying the game till I unlocked all of the listed achievments.

There is an "idle game" aspect also. After each playthrough and defeat of the dragon, you unlock a miner that will dig up loot for you. There is a cap on how much loot you can hold so grinding loot in-game while raising your character may be easier and quicker.

Will I be playing this game again? Absolutely!

I dare say cast away any negative reviews of this game as once one figures out the intricacies of the puzzles in this game they should see that virtually all negative reviews are simply lack of understanding the game mechanics. Only If is primarily a suspense puzzle game. The puzzle pieces come in many different forms and once in order, the gameplay will offer a very enjoyable experience.

The game is part story mode, part puzzle, part strategy, part suspense, a dash of skill and totally mind bending. ...Did I mention puzzle...This game is wrapped in puzzles to solve! Dust off the old brain cap, as there are hints and signs(that literally fall on you in some cases) throughout the story to instruct the player as to what order to progress through the story. Failure to do so will lead one astray so pay attention to the dialogue, pay attention to the signs and be ready to put your character control skills to the test.

Did I mention dusting off the old brain cap...There are no hand-holding tutorials here but, everything one needs to know in order to progress is given in the order one needs to know. I recommend having a pencil and paper handy to take notes along the way, especially if one needs to exit the game before completion as in the nostalgic spirit of games of yesteryear, the player will need to type in the name of the level last played.

There is strong language in this game. However, even to those whom are easily offended by language, the syntax the language is used in this game is perfectly fitting to the atmosphere and frankly, this game would not hold the suspense and atmosphere it has without the current choice in character dialogue. I give personal kudos to the game designers and studio in their choice of character dialogue. Too many game designers and game studios hold back on appropriate language syntax for the game atmosphere they are trying to create and as a result there are a lot of watered down less than par games on the market. Again, I give kudos to the game designers and studio for their choice in dialogue as it really does create the suspense and atmosphere this game requires.

The only downside to this game at time of this writing has nothing to do with the gameplay at all. The problem: Integration with Steam achievements is slightly broken. So long as the player does not "shift-tab" away from the game window the achievements appear to work just fine. As I understand there is something with how the Steam overlay for the Steam community integrates with the game that is bugged and causes the achievements to not register upon completion. Although this is something that should certainly be fixed, the fix is quite simple. The fix is to use Steams ability to verify the integrity of a games local files. The process takes about a thirty seconds. Afterwords all one needs to do is restart the game and go unlock any missing achievements. This game is not alone in this matter, there are numerous other games that have the same issue with achievements not working for the same reason.

All in all I really enjoyed this game and feel all one needs is a little patience, and desire to puzzle solve in order to see the beauty in game mechanics "Only If" provides.

Thank you to the game designers and game studio for making Only If available on Steam! For a first game effort the result was absolutely genius!

Thanks for taking the time to read my review. I hope my review is found helpful by the community and if so, please consider giving this review a thumbs up.

Now go immerse yourself in a great suspense puzzler!

Winged Sakura: Mindy's Arc is a very splended anime meets game that is as much delightful and charming as it is a challenging good time! Don't pass this one up!
