So after the whole fiasco with the multiplayer beta, I admit I was feeling a little worried that ID may have dropped the ball with this game and it was going to be one of the biggest dissappointments of the year. But after getting my hands on it and playing through the campaign, I've never been happier to say I was wrong. This is Doom the way it should be: Light on story, very heavy on action, gore and challenging difficulty. Even if you only get it for the single player (like I did), you won't be dissapointed at all. Not only is it insanely fun, it's highly replayable with plenty of secrets to find, upgrades to unlock and loads of demons for you to kill. I especially love all the nods to the original games they've tossed in throughout the campaign.

This is also one of the most well optimized games I've ever played. I was somewhat worried my 970 wouldn't allow me to really push this game's graphics (especially after seeing the gameplay previews) but I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to turn all the settings up to ultra and still achieve a smooth, stable framerate even during seriously intense battles. It's good to see a developer who still cares about their PC players and isn't just giving us a shoddy console port.

So if you loved the original Doom games and wanna get back to killing hordes of demons, quit reading this and just buy the game already.
