Early Access Review
Horror through discomfort done right. Watch a sinister and evil girlboss stoop lower and lower, with no remorse or pity for anyone who's destroyed along the way. And feel a sense of dread as you realize that you still *want* to see her win. Because, if for no other reason, you'll get a more interesting story that way.

"there's a point where we should have stopped and we have clearly passed that point, but let's keep going to see what happens!"

i'll admit i'm not a huge fan of the battle royale genre but this is so much more enjoyable than most slower paced BR games for me. it plays like a flash game with it's quick going in and out of lobbies, cartoony graphics, and top down controls, so it doesn't feel like a slog to play even if you lose a match. the cosmetics are great and a lot of them are cute as hell, and the monetization scheme is so consumer friendly and FOMO-free compared to other games' equivalents.

The year is 2032. I'm wandering and scavenging in the wasteland. I come across a familiar looking home, it's eroded and caved in. Checking inside, i find a broken but all too familiar old computer laying in the rubble. I try to turn it on, but most of its parts are fried, long out of working order. I carefully remove the hard drive and stuff it in my backpack. I must take this home as soon as possible. I make my way back up the old highway, fighting my way back through the hordes of sentient killer self-driving teslas, crypto-bandits, and mutants to get back to the haven city of New Shreveport, and wait at the outer wall while the guards check me over to make sure im not radioactive and let me in. The moment I'm inside I take off running up to my friend Wizard Kieth's shack and asking xer to restore this hard drive. I plug it into the beeping Windows 69 generator-powered sludge-cooled holoscreen terminal and boot it up. A familiar scent wafts into the air as I log into my steam that's still up somehow and launch The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. the console text that always shows up at the start of the game appears once more, but it says "Oh thank God. You finally found me. Thank you." in the corner i see "Achievement Unlocked: Super Go Outside". my eyes well up with tears and I smile for the first time since before this damn war began.

Difficulty is totally broken. How the hell are you supposed to fight your way through an FBI assault when you're too busy headbanging to the soundtrack?

You can be the hero, you can be the villain, you can say "why not both?" and be a gun-crazed man with a "wild west sheriff" complex, who after saving the president of the NCR from being assassinated goes on the quest to find Ted Gunderson, only to shoot him and his dad in the head and kill off the swarm of angry UltraLuxe employees beating you with canes on the way out.

NV is (at least in base vanilla form, haven't tried the DLC or mods yet) a lot smaller than Skyrim, yet somehow it feels like you have even more freedom than you do in Skyrim.

The only cons are some sometimes game-breaking bugs (a lot of which have fixes and workarounds), and... Johnny Guitar.
