Game is fun so far. Has good movement (no strafe jumping, but sliding, grapples, and dashes etc), good gunplay, and I was hooked. Don't expect it to be an Arena FPS though. It's not your traditional Quake 3 clone that indie devs keep saturating the market with. Its something new. If you want to play a game like Quake, go pick a Quake game of your choice and play it.

EDIT: I Feel like I should bring up the rogue-lite elements that people keep complaining about in the reviews. Its called "Diabotical: ROGUE" for a reason. It's literally in the name. And to top it off, I've found that the upgrades affect combat so minimally that the people ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it are just looking for something to complain about. And the only other thing that's random are the weapons you start with. In that case, it shouldn't be hard to learn how to use another weapon. If you can't use more than one weapon in a fps, then I can't help you. You''re stubborn. Obviously the game is in early access, so some weapons feel a little overtuned (looking at the Eggbot's SMG), but with time it will get better.
I was very skeptical to even buy this game because of the negative reviews. I decided to buy it in the end, and 3 days in I've sank 15 hours into it. If you are a quake player who wants to play quake, go read the comment above. Go pick a quake game of your choice and play it. If you are looking for a new shooter, and you are open to new game mechanics, don't let the reviews push you away from new experiences.

UPDATE: Game is dead. I guess the lack of content updates killed it or something, but its sad to see regardless. Game was fun for sure, and I still think it was overall good, but the fun did not last long. Will not be buying from GD anymore.

Games kinda mid, hard to get into. There's plenty of reasons arena shooters are dying. It's not worth getting into at this point. You can spend 5 years learning strafe jumping and at that point you will have nobody to play with, and you've thrown 5 years of your life away at a dead game mechanic.

its almost as good as 2019 was. very close. a step in the right direction when compared to the last 3 cod games.

At $20 and 144 hours of playing, this game has definitely been worth buying. It does help a lot to have friends to play it with once you get the hang of the game, as solo playing can be somewhat boring after a while. The new updates keep the game interesting. Gameplay gets more intense later on, which is where it begins to be fun for me, as a shooter player. Do keep in mind that the first character, Commando, is pretty weak, and IMO boring. Personally, I would play until you've unlocked a few characters and figured out which ones you like, which isn't too hard. My favorite characters are Mercenary and Huntress. Overall, the game is a blast, and you should get it. DO IT!
