I loved this game but wish I had been made aware that the devs chose to use AI generated pictures in the game. I found out too late to get a refund.
Overall the game is well made, and I don't think you can justify using AI when you can buy stock photos for the same result. Generative AI is not only stealing assets from artists, it also heavily contributes to pollution by its sheer use of power, both things that i'm not in favour of supporting monetarily.

No matter what game, be it Darkest Dungeon or a table-top rpg, the only thing i'm sure of is that i still love sending adventurers to their untimely death.

Love that sweet disco eldritch horror !

This game is so depressing I can't find the strength to finish it, but I really love it and will one day face the consequences of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ choices I took in my playthrough.

I'm crap at this kind of strategy game, it's frustrating, and I generally don't have any fun while playing them but it seems that in the Banner Saga the story still manages to keep me going and I find myself getting better and less frustrated about my lack of skills (for which the game makes me pay full price). The scenery is really beautiful, the lore interesting and the storyline heart-wrenching. Austin Wintory, the soundtrack composer, has truly done a great job on this game. We probably get too attached to the characters, which would be great if I didn't kill like half of them by taking the worst choices.
The Banner Saga has three phases in gameplay : - One is when advancing the caravans, having to handle numbers, morale, food.
- Two is the dialogues and taking decisions, meaning having to deal with consequences (losing morale, losing caravan members, having a party member dying/fleeing, etc...). Some decisions seem to be random spawned during travel times, others are scripted.
- Three are the combats, split between taking decisions on battlefield strategy which will affect your fighters and clan members in your caravans, and also on the number of ennemies you will face in the turn-based combat system.

Overall, it really is a great game, quite challenging in many ways but it serves in conveying the characters' stuggles, it's depressing as hell, but also really beautiful with a great atmosphere.
