I dont really write big reviews for games but this game itches such a perfect specific niche in my brain and i love it beyond believe so here it is.

Let me be clear, this games themes, soundtrack, and ideas are IMMACULATE. A horror fps dungeon crawler thats ALSO a rougelike, with a sort of edgy, dying webcore theme/environment? Thats BEYOND incredible, the concept is amazing, the CORE mechanics are incredible. Everything about this game is so incredibly unique in an amazing way. The idea of the game is beyond perfect. The LOOKS of the game are so well fitting for such an masterpiece of an idea. The UI is very interesting and fitting, although it doesnt feel amazing to play with, but its a smaller issue. The best part about this game is the ♥♥♥♥♥ masterful idea that in a rougelike, dying isnt the end of your run, but rather you simply move onto the next floor and lose (as far as i experienced) nearly all of your current resources, so while recovery is possible, you have to really work for it (at least on the canon mode, that was the only mode i tried). Since the run ends on the final floor, f you feel like you can recover before that, then go ahead and continue, else, the runs arent so long that resetting feels tragic. It keeps the unfair part of rougelike rng out when youre looking for a "perfect run", because chances are in this game, you arent getting that, and if you get screwed early, theres plenty of chances to recover, if you get screwed late, why not go gambling and try to secure a harder soul with less spells so you still have a chance on the last floor? I. LOVE. THIS. CONCEPT.

Its enhanced by the writing as well. While the actual lore is hard to follow the characters are more graspable and I do like the interactions of others changing depending on who you pick.

However

The game is released as a "1.0", meaning it is a full release, the "ready" release. There is no early access tag or demo or anything of the sort for the game. But the game is nearly unplayable in its current state. At least to seriously play it. To my understanding there is currently only 1 developer on this game, which is fair, I didnt expect anything to really work flawlessly, especially from what seemed to be an earlier release than intended.

Gameplay

Spells feel unfinished, they're more flashy than impactful, and half the time it feels like since the physics of the game arent really fleshed out, spells and enemies just randomly kill you and you have no idea why. Which is very problematic in a game that seems very centered on dying alot to learn information on enemies (how they move, what sounds they make, how to identify them, enements they do, elements theyre weak to, etc.) throughout your runs to understand what to do in each situation.

Additionally, because of the unfortunate physics and difficult to digest visuals, its hard to be scared or unnerved when you really just have very little clue whats going on. Text is large, so everything looks scaled weird and uncomfortably displays on larger monitors. This is mostly noticable with the conversational text boxes taking up what feels like half the screen. If the text in the game were a bit smaller, it would unironically be easier to read.

Another major problem (although this may be more personal) is that the tutorial of the game is split into a text tutorial and a pseudo-gameplay tutorial. First you read a few pages about the game mechanics, then you get a tutorial room to test some of the features you read before the game actually starts. Maybe my brain is fried or something, but text tutorials dont really work out in any game ive tried recently. For a game with a respeciable amount of mechanics and ui elements, theres just too much stuff to read about and be expected to retain without being bothersome before even playing the game. It feels like the player is just being thrown every mechanic available at once and if you dont get accustomed to it yourself before starting, its your fault for being unprepared. Now maybe this is a design choice, in which case i could see why, since thematically, it would make sense. However, it feels poor, at least to me.

Game has a plethora of bugs, but its recently released game. I can't really complain about bugs right now.

With the gameplay feeling very unfinished, i feel like there should've been a free demo or a tag for early access. It can be a bit upsetting to spend $15 and realize there really isnt much to play right now. There are games in early access that have more polish with a similar workforce.

This game is more of an experience then an game at the moment. You pay to see the concept and ideas and enjoy everything you can see. Theres even a difficulty just for enjoying the experience, but beyond that, theres nothing that feels smooth or enjoyable to play. Its frankly more fun to just see.

Why someone SHOULD buy this

This game has absolutely insane potential and the dev seems like they have very good ideas of where to take it, but from a gameplay standpoint it just lacks so much polish AT THE MOMENT. So realistically you should just buy it to invest in what could be an amazing game and right now just enjoy the themes and whatnot. Also, supporting solo devs >>>.

So many incredible projects have come from small studios and solo devs. If the dev works their ass off, this could be one of the best games ever made.

Please buy this for a unique experience and as an investment.

Why someone SHOULD NOT buy this (why this review is negative atm)

Theres very little "game" available. At least thats playable. Even if you like the thematics, the polish alone will upset you. The game is in "1.0" and it doesnt even have a working sound settings window. Everything feels janky right now, mechanical feedback is poor, everything is so sudden that its hard to have time to process anything, and lastly the visual clarity is very poor (not including the thematics that should make it harder regardless, like glitchy effects and whatnot).

Theres no demo or tag for early access so most users probably have no clue what theyre getting themselves into in the first place.

This just isnt a game I can recomend right now for someone looking for GAMEPLAY alongside the thematics.

That being said, I wouldnt choose to refund this a day in my life. I just hope this game goes the best direction it can and i will be playing every update in hopes to see this game grow into something amazing.

Produced the best raid in any video game ive ever played in my life, however, the raiding scene is slowly dying. Only good for wattpad fanfiction level narratives nowadays. Tor has fallen. Still a very good first MMO.

Update: Review turned to negative. With other mmos on the market, its just not worth it anymore. and with bioware abandoning an already mostly ignored game for EA by giving it to broadsword instead, its over for swtor. Broadsword failed the hope we had for them.

Absolutely horrendous early game.

The best late game in any mmo ever.

Modding also saved my installation status of this game.

The only moba where Optimus Prime can run over Leonardo from TMNT while Aang is setting Eleven from Stranger Things on fire. All the while, Ruby Rose is currently flying in the Sky about to dive bomb the Crab Rave crab, but watch out, Cthulhu is just around the corner with King Arthur to kill Ruby Rose. But dont worry, Mulan is coming shortly after to protect her Crab teammate.

TLDR: Fortnite of MOBAs.

One of the best Games on steam in my opinion. Although it can get annoying at sometimes. And the fact thats its FREE just makes it een better. Ive played since season one and i dont regret it. Even better with a friend or 3.

Update: I used to love this game, even wanted to go competitive at some point, got really involved with the community, watched the first two championships / invitationals. However, with every single update, came a whole new bug or a whole new issue with the game itself.

Last time i played (end 2020) TTK was abysmally long (especially end zone), except early game where- unfortunately, the game actively punished aggression with ADS speed reductions, as well as other things.

Come mid game, there was nothing to offer around the map since people were so scared to fight due to the lack of incentive and reward. Solo queue was more than dead, Duo's was removed for over a year and a half and all the maps were way to big or offered no cover / boring scenery, except the snow one because it was actually interesting and offered nice combat options.

The semi-comp mode that was out around season 3-4 (i forget the name of the mode) was the most fun at least for me because, it offered quick queues and lots of engagements, as well as a lower squad member count (3 per team instead of 4).

Lastly, the devs have since ruined the games ideals by making character skins a complete waifu bait cash grab. They used to be so inspired and wonderful, but now its clear their player base is declining rapidly and they can't hold their audience so they want to try to get the last bit of money they can by taking advantage of those blinded by horny

It's been around a year and I want to love this game again but i don't know if i could. I will give it one more try before i turn this review into a thumbs down (I really don't want to)
