Talos 1 has been one of my favorite games since I first played it back in 2018, I had very high expectations for Talos 2 and somehow they managed to meet them (maybe even surpass them?)

It's visually impressive, I certainly loved the brutalist architecture mixed with the natural landscapes throughout most of the zones, and also the more futuristic areas like New Jerusalem. Had quite a few "wow" moments upon arriving in certain zones!

The melancholic solitude of Talos 1 was one of the main reasons I loved that game so I was kinda concerned about Talos 2 having that many characters, but that concern quickly dissipated as I met them, I really enjoyed all of their dialogues and different personalities and the voice acting as a whole is great.

The soundtrack is once again superb, fits the atmosphere of the game to a tee, and I found myself humming to the melodies multiple times while exploring or thinking about the puzzles. (I grinned like an idiot when I stumbled upon Damjan playing The Dance of Eternity on an acoustic guitar)

Puzzles then, I found them overall simpler than in Talos 1 with the difficulty curve being much more like a wave. Basically arrive in a new zone, get introduced to a new mechanic in a few easy puzzles, solve the last few less-easy-but-not-that-hard puzzles and move on to the next zone. Still they were very enjoyable and I can't recall being frustrated once, got stuck once or twice but managed to find... unconventional solutions lol.

I was honestly suprised at how many new mechanics there are in Talos 2, and I can't say I disliked any of them! One criticism I do have is that a lot of these mechanics are mostly present in the zone you discover them and not in the zones beyond except for a few endgame puzzles. But I have no doubt they'll clear that up with a future DLC à la Road to Gehenna!

Oh, and the story is really cool too, the lore is much more in your face than in Talos 1 where you could do the whole game without really knowing why you were there if you didn't interact with the terminals. The story is obviously very philosophical, it's just that philosophy has never really been my thing, still enjoyed every second of it though!

All in all, €29 for a game of this quality is a steal, it was clearly made with passion and Croteam deserves every cents, I can't wait to see what they have in store for this license!

Game is good at its core, gunplay is cool, it's fun to kill cops
Maps are pretty
Soundtrack is fire as expected, thanks Gustavo

But that's about it.
Menus, progression system, matchmaking, online-only, all of that suck
Shame, it could have been so much more. (and will surely be in a few years I hope)

With no mods, it's just a very cool RPG.
With mods, this is one of the best game ever.

Ce n'est pas un jeu... c'est... un chef d'oeuvre, tout simplement.
