This is the first "Action Roguelike" game I've ever played/watched someone play, so I'll talk about it as if you also never played one.
You start of weak and not even able to complete the first stage, but you progressively become stronger and stronger until your abilities make you look like a Bullet Hell boss; at the time of writing there's 18 different abilities, all of which are different things with different movement patterns. There's quite a lot of colour overlap due to the 3 elements and Magic having consistent colouring, would be extremely fun to get a rainbow ability (or just add steam workshop support so we can make recolours of the abilities for fun).
Also there's at the time of writing 11 Characters to play as with their many unique upgrades (that can then later be put on other characters), so you'll really have a lot to mess around with.
There's a whopping 500 achievements to do, each one increasing your EXP gain, so you're really going to have a lot to do in this game, well worth the price.
And after that you'll have the endgame in "The Vault" to test your limits in an endless mode.
At the time writing some of the equipment is not good, not fun to play with and useless compared to the other equipment of the same category. There's also still some bugs where certain buffs don't affect certain equipment/abilities, but after a little re-designing/balancing and bug fixing the whole game will be a smooth experience.
Oh and scroll back up and look at the gameplay, I love the artstyle so much lol.

This game is in a very weird spot; You could call it a free demo of the full product that is Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion: HD Renovation, but the quality of it is worse and you get the whole game...
Notably the FOV is locked at 80 I think, the wall collision makes you "stick" to them instead of running along side them and you can't hold W when entering a new room, the game won't be able to read your input until you release the key and press it again, so you'll need to not walk forward right away when entering a new room.
So if you play the entire game and liked it, I'm not sure if you'll want to pay to replay the same thing but better with barely anything new to experience.

The ultimate meme/everything/anything game I've ever played, this game was made with the primary goal of allowing and encouraging people to make mods for it which are easily downloadable either in game or on the steam workshop if you want to search with more specific filters rather than just seeing the trending or top rated mods.
Mind you some of those mods are ENTIRE UNIQUE GAMEMODES, meaning you could join a server running on the "Slender Man" gamemode that has you running around looking for pages while a random community made monster lurks, or "Zombie Survival" that has Humans vs Zombies with an upgrade system and several different weapons, most often these gamemodes ends up having more and more mods specifically made for them to add even more fresh things to them. I could go on and on with all the different ways you can play this game thanks to the talented modders/coders out there working on it.
At the time of writing this I have about 500 Addons (as they're called in the community) and my game is working fine, though mind you some Addons will conflict with each other sometimes when they modify/add something similar to each other, so always make sure to try out your new Addons right away so you can pin-point which one you just added that's causing issues.

A rare "chill" horror game that you can play when you want to turn off your brain (Until "they" start chasing you) and explore several rooms in a 3D environment with a nice art-style, most of which are pretty empty until...
You reach the ones that are really not empty.
Even dying to the monsters is interesting since they each have unique death screens/scenes that sometimes helps you learn more about them... Ignoring the fact the death screen ends even when they're a lot of text to read on the screen which is very bad design (though unfortunately the death screen/scene quality varies a lot between monsters)
The base game is on the easy side, but after you're done with the Main Mode/Karamari Hospital/Dollhouse you can play Endless Mode which bumps up the difficulty significantly by allowing up to 5 monsters with distinct mechanics to chase you at once.
Despite how silly the game's vibe is initially, the story does get significantly heavier if you seek out the Brain in Jar's secret code by going up to it once you're past 900 rooms and use it on the fourth arcade machine (I hate how impossible to find out on your own it is -_-) and play both Karamari Hospital and most notably the Dollhouse which made me cry.

An amazing game with several unique unforgettable characters.
This game shows how despite the difficulty, being kind to everyone is extremely fulfilling.
This game shows how despite how easy it is, not even trying to do the best thing is extremely unfulfilling.
This game shows how despite being very tedious and repetitive, being horrible leaves you feeling empty.
Mind you this is a fictional game where the people you're faced with hates you due to being a human, which have imprisoned them underground, USUALLY in real life people you encounter aren't trying to kill you haha, but yes obviously there's video game logic at play here and there needs to be motive for them to fight you to the death (due to LORE) so there's gameplay and the possibility for game overs.

This game will please the broader audience that enjoys the meta "self aware character goes crazy" genre, and the likely smaller audience that enjoys games related to mental health/social interactions/psychology.
If you want to learn more about the characters without everything going horribly wrong due to a self aware character having an existential crisis and having full control over the code of the world they reside in, I'd STRONGLY recommend purchasing DDLC Plus, I really enjoyed it and it made me cry.
Review from 29 November 2017:
I didn't felt anything because my depression is worst than Sayori's. Good game ! Very fun.

Fair Warning: Valve has been known to have 0 cheater/hate speech preventive measures in their Multiplayer games for the last few years and some people have started to spend a lot of money for several years now to fill up the official servers with Bots that have perfect aim that plays Sniper and spams the chat with the vilest messages. So if this review oscillates between Positive and Negative it will be based on if Valve is keeping up with moderating their servers.

9 Characters, many different unlockable weapons on them making the ways to play the game seemingly infinite. Even without the unlockable weapons you can play each characters in various skillful or silly different ways, you're very likely to find a character and way of playing that you'll really like.
This PVP game is very unique in the sense that winning the game is not that big of a focus in the official servers; A lot of people will mess around in ways that will help win the game but won't be optimal, making for truly interesting interactions across each match and a lack of pressure to perform at your 100% all the time.

There are many community servers that allows you to play the game in extremely different ways:
"Uncletopia" for a playerbase that's more focused on playing optimally and winning the game, but still has goofiness happening every now and then.
"LazyPurple's Silly Server" for maximum goofing around with PVP disabled by default but toggleable, playing many wacky maps some of which are even from Garry's Mod, also with server plugins that allows for extra goofiness.
"Slender Fortress" servers where you can play TF2 but as a horror game where you collect items before you can escape with a large variety of monsters randomly chosen that will try to get you, a great example of how far modding TF2 can go.

The only negative thing I have to say about the default game is how unbalanced/badly designed a lot of the unlockable weapons are:
Some of them are extremely powerful, meaning everyone trying to play optimally will always use them. In the case of the Crusader's Crossbow it looks like instead of revamping the Syringe Gun into a usuable mostly supportive weapon they just made an unlockable weapon to entirely replace it.
Some melee weapons also have this issue due to them being designed around having 1 useful niche you can use by pulling it out and having the downside be the offensive stats of the melee weapon itself, something that's not a downside at all since melee weapons are meant to be very rarely used last resort damage dealers.
Some of them are both very weak and badly designed, in some cases just adding one upside that would compliment what the weapon is doing without just increasing its already existing upsides would save the weapon and make it viable and fun to use, in other cases though some weapons needs entire reworks since what they're trying to go for is way too niche/gimmicky and if you were to buff them into relevancy that'd just mean in those rare scenarios the weapon would feel absolutely unfair to play against.

Though sadly despite its incredible everlasting popularity, it seems like Valve has sorta given up on it; Only doing crucial bug fixes and some minor ones and adding community created content to the game in the form of Maps and Cosmetics.

This game truly stood the test of time, the gameplay, the characters, the artstyle are all still extremely beloved to this day.
