Strong 4-out-of-5; loved almost every minute of it!
It is a perfect rendition of old-but-gold Quake formula. Minimum story, maximum shooting with some simple puzzles here and there. Guns are cool, fights are fun, level design is interesting and the art is memorable. Really like how the hub-like approach is maintained both across the "acts" of game as well as within separate levels in said acts; hub was somehow a thing I really liked about Q1 back in the day.
Acts 2 and 3 feel a bit less polished compared to 1st, and the music is almost non-existant, but the game successfully scratches that itch for "wish there was a new Quake done in the spirit of the original one" I never knew I had.

The game is a MASTERWORK, especially if you consider it was made almost by a single person and couple of artists. The mechanics are genious, the graphics are gorgeous and the gameplay is damn captivating. But at the moment of writing this review the game is SERIOUSLY BUGGED, and this might be a huge turn off. It DOES NOT behave on resolutions other than 1920x1080 and several mechanics are slightly broken. I am sure that devs love their game and many problems will get fixed, but for now PLEASE consider this an early access game!

I really wish they would make a polishing pass, especially on Interloper (since it contrasts with previous two chapters too much), but nevertheless, the new Xen is a bomb.

It was an interesting competetive PvPvE shooter, sort of like Dayz/Pubg/Resident Evil in Wild West. Then at Rank 21 you are thrown away from the sandbox to a high league where people run with 20 perks and gun you down with one hit from automatic high caliber rifles.

Walk through the walls, die jumping from 1m height, break legs climbing up the ladder, kill survivors for the can of beans, seek for loot dropping underground, drink desinfectant, and DON'T TRUST THE ROTTEN BANANA. Do I like this itsy-bitsy laggy-buggy stuff? I LOVE IT! Keep up the great work, Dean! <3
