Edit 9/23/2022: actually gave it a go again since it sounded like devs were trying. tried to play with friends. none of us were able to join each other. not sure the exact issues my friends were having, but my client would attempt to join a world, I'd hear ambient world audio for a split second, then it would jump back out to the "Joining world" UI. it's worse than it used to be. so i guess that's it for VR chat. Neos worked fine at least, joined a taco bell world and drank baja blast. good times. guess I'll actually start porting my avatar over now.

Man, I spent more hours making an avatar for this game than I have actually playing it. And now, when I finally am ready to start playing seriously, they require an anti-cheat service that has administrative access to your PC. No way. I'm out. Thank god other chill hangout games use Unity engine too so my hours making an avatar won't have been wasted.

In any case, this is just really sad to see. Clearly a majority of the active user base is unhappy with these changes (30k+ negative reviews in the last 30 days, which if online stats are anything to go by, is about how many players are on online during peak hours). At least VRC has zero unique features for us. Anybody can make a Unity game where all of the assets are user-created, just see any of the several alternatives other reviews have pointed people to. That means the only thing keeping a user base is the care and understanding of the devs. And sadly, that's something no longer found here. Why wouldn't VRC have just added their "reworked roadmap" fixes before adding EAC? Because they don't give a toss about you or me or any of their players. And so we begin migrating our assets, avatars, worlds, and mods over to a new platform. Hopefully we can feel welcomed somewhere else.

this is my favorite game and i hate shooters

Awful. Was playing with friends. Near the end of a close game, a friend got automatically bankrupted for inactivity while we were discussing a trade, with the trade menu open. No settings to change this. Refunded.
