A few creeps can provide good buff (More ASPD, more Armor, more damage, more HPS, etc...) for familiars, provided you are good enough at managing a creep and 2 funny birds. Plus, Soul Assumption, in some laning match-up, can be very good harrassing tool and kill potential.

Keep familiars within your gravekeeper's cloak aura. That way, your familiars will be much harder to kill. Just saying.
