The exact kind of game I've been waiting years for. Hop in, relax, have friendly convos, draw, some guy starts playing live guitar, someone else pulls out a whale the size of the entire screen, what more do you need.

SHADOW GENERATIONS IS THE BEST 3D SONIC GAME EVER MADE. I have been a fan of the series for most of my life, and I have waited so, so long for a new game to be everything I've hoped for. This is it. We're not taking steps in the right direction anymore, we're at the destination. I teared up at the ending to this game. TEARS AT A SONIC GAME. We are so f***ing back.

Sonic Forces is a revolutionary video game that the rest of the industry needs to learn from! This is because it is one of the first ever video games to feature a skill-based payment system! Here's how it works: If you're mildly competent at playing video games, then you will have no trouble beating this game in less than two hours. If that's the case, then congratulations! You have completed the game while maintaining eligibility for a Steam refund. Enjoy your free playthrough!

I've known this little cat a long time. I've played Pix'n Love Rush since it came out on iOS nearly 10 years ago, so seeing him still around and kicking with a really fun, content filled, challenging game that keeps with the retro-remix style of the series is heartwarming. The game is a clever mix of Pac-Man and Snake, in addition to the entirely original concept of going back and forth from previous levels to the current one to solve puzzles and get the best score. The game is super charming and I wish the developers PastaGames well with their future endeavors.

This is one of those cases where I wish Steam had an option in-between Yes and No. This game has a lot of good and a lot of bad. The good starts with the gameplay itself. The game is fast paced, the controls respond well, and the netcode is really great. The online in this game is certainly no Brawl. The game seems to take after Melee for the majority of the mechanics. Now here's where the bad starts. The game looks really bland. Through the character designs and backgrounds you can tell there were some professional artists involved, but the art is just so generic. Another complaint is that in every single aspect of this game that doesn't take after Super Smash Bros Melee, takes after Overwatch. The menus, character designs, lore writing style, the backgrounds, the weird fantasy with futuristic technology mix (which is really common with games going for this art style, like Paladins and League), everything here feels like a direct clone of Overwatch. That seems like a nitpick, but throughout the game it constantly feels like you're playing some Overwatch knock off, and that really takes away from the game as a whole. The music is very forgettable too. The final aspect that makes this game hit and miss is the monetization system. The website and the Steam page claim this is a free to play game, but it's more like a demo where you can unlock the missing features incredibly slowly. You can play as 3 characters without paying for the game or playing for a long time. I hope your main in Smash Bros was either Fox, Captain Falcon / ZSS (they are combined here), or Gannondorf, because that's all you have access to. This system really isn't that bad, but it's a little bit disingenuous to claim that the game is free to play and offer a 3 character demo upon download. If you're willing to pay $25 for this game, I'm sure it could be a worthwhile experience. An incredibly generic experience, but a fun one.

Frequent crashes, I can't even get past level 6 because I can no longer get past the main menu before the game crashes.

It's great to see the multiplayer support come back for this game. The servers sometimes disconnect seemingly randomly to refresh, but I don't think that's the game's fault because the servers are individually hosted. It's very fun and doesn't have any pay-to-win EA crap.

I haven't found too many helpful reviews for the game, and while I haven't played much of it at all I'd like to cover some aspects I haven't seen others talking about.

The Controls
The controls are a little bit different than you may expect. You have a gun, a dash / stomp, and a jump. The dashing is toggle based - press the button once and you'll continue to dash until you jump or hit something. Don't hold any direction and press the dash button to shoot. Your jump is a lot like the jump in Mario Bros. Yes, the arcade game. As in you control how fast you go on the ground then jump locked at that speed. It's really not a downside though - when you need to move as fast as you do in this game, midair control becomes irrelevant when mixed with the stomp.

The Presentation
This game's visuals are fantastic. The menus, the backgrounds, everything has a minimalistic, colorful cyberpunk aesthetic. The music perfectly matches the visuals too - being made by the same dev as BARRIER X, I was expecting the presentation to be top notch, and it was absolutely that.

Verdict
I can't say much on the game's length or overall difficulty as I haven't played it through all the way quite yet, but I definitely won't be refunding this game. It's fun, it looks and sounds gorgeous, and it has a lot of replay value. I say give it a shot - it's only $8.

Wow, I just can't get over how great this game is. And completely free, too! The controls do have a learning curve, but I got used to them in under 20 minutes, and the game is really fun. I can't wait for the multiplayer to be added! I already know it's going to be one of my house's favorite multiplayer games, and online play will be a blast! 4.5/5 from me, but that's just because it's not finished yet. It's great! You should try it!
