The retro windows aesthetic was a lot of fun. I wouldn't classify it as a horror game unless hearing about other's predicaments in a phone call/hotline setting provokes a sense of fear or dread in you. The different hazards and pests were interesting, and the riddles had a good variance in difficulty.

Overall a great little game. For the price of movie ticket I'd recommend picking this game up. I got 3.5 hours out of my first run and I will probably come back to attempt a perfect run.

I remember playing, but never beating Klonoa 2 on my PS2 as a child. I happened upon it and embarked on my redemption ark. After playing and beating both games, I must say it was great fun. I beat both games in 8 hours, but there is still a lot of things to do if going for full completion. I do not generally like platfromers as a genre, but I found a lot of the mechanics neat, and the level design is usually quite good. The graphics are dated but fun and colorful.

Only complaint is sections of levels seem like they are purposefully set up to be annoying, and some of the later levels can be stingy with checkpoints. I played on easy, as you get infinite lives and reduced damage modifier. Health was never really an issue but the I could see lives becoming in short supply with the amount of fall deaths I had. Worth checking out on a sale, especially if you are fan of platformers.

Overall (TLDR): After completing the main story, numerous side quests, and companion quests, I feel comfortable in saying that this game is a spiritual successor to Fallout: New Vegas (FNV). Outer Worlds distinguishes itself with its environments, story, and game universe. The game is not perfect, but the story is interesting enough to carry me through the criticisms I have of the game (see criticisms section).

Don't go in looking for FNV, you will only come out with the feeling that something is missing or off. If something reminds you of FNV, call it a coincidence and you will have a much more fulfilling go at the game. Definitely worth going through the story once. For me I will most likely play through it at least 3 times.

Positives:
++ compelling story with a strong emphasis on your choices and how they shape the game world.
++ More compromise/morally gray outcomes to quests is a nice break from the usually good vs evil outcomes of RPGs.
+ Strong dialog options add humor or depth to encounters.
+ Solid weapon selection with interesting mods and customization.

Criticisms:
- A few bugs, the most annoying being a loss of sound in specific areas.
- The maps are fairly small and linear at times. When they aren't they feel big and empty.
- Combat can feel tedious if you haven't improved you weapons damage in a while.
-- I think the biggest drawback for me is the lack detail in the smaller areas of the game world. (named enemies with little backstory, terminal entries that miss the mark regarding a locations backstory, etc.)

I will update this review once I play through the other endings and DLC if need be.

This is a great game and the devs do a good job at pushing out updates. The weaponry is realistic and I have yet to find a game that does what this game does.

The only issue is that low player counts have seen the introduction of bots into the frontlines gamemode. While the gunplay will still satisfy your WWI needs, killing bots can only be fun for so long until a greater challenge is needed.
