An easier way to explain this is to contrast it with tsundere - the most common classical "strong feminine girl". And explain why I don't really like tsunderes - tsunderes are strong, too, but...it's more bipolar. They're afraid to admit, even to themselves, their own affections and desire, too. Also, Tsunderes are way more...rough and mean, in being "strong". Often violent, but even if they aren't, they're just...angrier. Or if they are in the "dere" mode they're...more timid and awkward and shy. Their strength is basically in being dominating and their sweet side is basically in being weak and passive.
