Rewriting an old review because the latest updates are awful.

To start off with, the game was good, back when it first released it was a decent battle royale with funky mechanics, and a buggy server. But when the beta started coming out, me and my friends knew it would be a great game. We obviously had moments where we said we hated the game and that it was trash, but we knew it was a fun game.

When the full release came out, we were so hyped to play more and dominate, even if we were mid-high tier players, we loved playing the game everyday.

Then the Battle Pass update came out.

To begin, the devs nerfed a lot of our favorite guns, which were obviously busted in some way or another (missile launcher was way too OP, MP-44 was OP, etc etc.), it didn't piss us off too much, a mild frustration but they had fixed it so we couldn't really be mad.

Then they remake Area 64, our favorite location, we think this will be the greatest thing ever.

We drop, we lag, we die.

Area 64 is so unoptimized that being inside any building immediately tanks your FPS, I have a pretty decent PC that can run most games, if not all, games on high FPS with medium-high settings.

At this point it's just a list of complaints
-Unoptimization in most locations
-Lag in the inventory for no reason
-Useless blessings (Pull, Lit beats, Catchphrase blessings, Assassin, shield)
-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ damage mechanics
-Melee weapons still wildly OP
-Awful drop locations (every game me and my friend got had a bugged drop line)
-Poorly designed map (the entire left side of the map is unplayable)
-Tons of irritating bugs (physics bugs, UI bug)
-The same circle every game (Me and my friend played 20 games, only 1 wasn't a circle in factory)
-Player cosmetics randomly disappear during dropping and Gulag
-Buggy and wildly inconsistent server
-REMOVING DUOS BECAUSE OF LOW PLAYER COUNT (YOU HAD BARELY ANY PLAYERS BEFORE RELEASE BUT DUOS WAS STILL THERE WHAT THE HELL LANDFALL)

Me and my friends loved this game, but there were so many issues with it, from wildly OP guns like the Beam AR to so many irritating small things that the game became a chore to play, and all together we just gave up. Maybe it'll be fixed in the future but I literally cannot recommend in good faith that anyone play this game.

Possibly one of the best games I've played of 2020, call it what you want but a game doesn't need to be in development for 7 years with a massive budget to be entertaining. You want immersive gameplay? Here it is. Want features you thought weren't going to be in this game? Surprise! They're here! Spend some money on it, it's 1/3rd the price of a Triple A game and holy hell is it worth the price. 420/69 buy it now

Definetly weird for newcomers, it's kind of quiet and boring but once you get into the swing of it, you'll be hooked, I rarely look for updates in games but this is one game I always look out for, 11/10 buy it now

I truly do recommend this game to anyone seeking a WW2 sub-sim.
Is it for everyone? No, of course not. The specs for running it is absurd, it doesn't even allow 'low' graphic settings, simply medium. There are many bugs, although I've seen many complain about these, I myself have not experienced any, I can only say I've seen a few, which is, when a crew member is injured in the conning tower, they will simply clip through the floor and seem to be falling through. Another is simply animation bugs, but that's expected with any new game.

Quite frankly, the game only needs a few more months of polish, the game play is wonky and unbalanced, I've seen convoys stand completely still at 0 knots, than immediately head to 6 knots when I spot them, as well as frustratingly buggy missions. I always hated doing the 'Find X Ship' missions because it's almost impossible, either the convoy is already far ahead of you, or if you don't want to waste torpedos, good luck guessing which ship is the one you need to sink.

As well, the way the crew behaves is unrealistic, if you seek only TRUE realism in a game, than this game is far from it. It doesn't explain the purpose of the white/red/blue lights, crew doesn't run to the front of the boat during a crash dive, fuel is priced at 1 Reichsmark per ton (wish that was real), and you can't have your officers do anything or you'll get a discipline debuff of -2 per minute because your officers are working too much (sometimes it's -4 or -6, and happens when even only three people are working). As well, oxygen, electricity, and discipline run out at an absurd rate, I thought these were men, but if you spend even an hour underwater they'll snap. Oxygen is a commodity, I almost made it to La Spezia, but I had to surface for oxygen and was gunned down, and I almost ran out of it when attacking a convoy. The crew, overall, are babies.

The UI as well is quite messy, with multiple things cluttering the screen, being on top of on another, with your telegraph in front of a message of BdU, and having to close everything to check your air reserves, it all gets frustrating fast.

Although I've given so much bad news about UBOAT, I still think it's amazing, the day I got it I spent 19 hours playing. There is truly an essence in it that I haven't experienced with other games, waiting for it, getting it, and being so excited when I realize how far the dev team can come with just a little more resources and effort. I truly do see UBOAT being up there with the big dogs, not with GTA V, CoD, or Battlefield, but most likely on the steam front page. It has massive potential, just tremendous amounts, and if the AI is improved, and the game is given a great polish on all aspects, it will definetly become one of the best games, I, and many others, have ever played.

TL;DR, Game is buggy, broken and unpolished, but overall it has great potential to become better, check back in a month or two for one of the best games of 2019.
