This game isn’t for everyone, but if it’s for you oh boy is it a wonderful experience.

As a general precaution, this game contains a lot of reading. Pretty much the entirety of it is reading. Very rarely in this RPG will you get into physical fights. Instead, having higher points in skills will give you more to read, such as internal dialogue making empathetic connections to others, breaking down arguments presented to you, or reminding you of your crippling addiction to drugs and alcohol.

You play as a police officer sent to solve a murder, but most likely you’ll put that on the backburner, instead wandering around town to see what sorts of people and situations you can stumble upon (much to the detriment of your detective partner). All that text is put to good use, creating a world that’s easy to get engrossed in, both through learning about its past as well as observing its present.

Disco Elysium is my favourite game I played in 2020, and I can’t wait for The Final Cut to be released!
