The comparisons to Stardew Valley, Minecraft, Terarria, are all warranted.
The game is essentially taking Terarria and changing the perspective from 2D side scroller to top-down 2D.
Like, yeah, that's basically what I would label this game as:
Top-Down 2D Terarria.
If that's up your alley, then i'd recommend it, especially on sale for 7.50 USD.

Dopamine simulator, the game.
Takes the best parts of Risk of Rain, combines them with aspects of nerd culture in a way that doesn't feel forced (though I'm sure in a few years from now they will show their age), makes you feel the progress you're making, and has a lot of fun and interesting characters to use.
And its like 10 bucks.
Full send.

Early Access Review
the game is good, I would even say the game is great?
It doesn't hold your hand and expects you to pick up on gamer-type concepts as you go.
People saying there's no tutorial are, maybe lacking reading comprehension? as the tutorial is the entire world around you and the stones that you can interact with, the bird that makes sure to fly in to talk to you when any progression is made.
The building mechanics in this game are unlike any other survival game with building elements, the amount of freedom you get is absurd. RPG mechanics wise, I like the skill system a lot, combat too. The combat is pretty deep all things considered and there's certainly a learning curve but I think the game does well in terms of progression.

I will say though, resource gathering can be a slog, the game basically expects you to have multiple bases or stations set up as you progress, which is fine, but I know the last thing people want to do after building their perfect "homebase" is find out the resource they need to progress is across the map, far from their established base.

In terms of a single player experience, if you have a lot of time on your hands and you're looking for a fun, survival-craft-adventure game, this is a good fit.
Multiplayer? Yeah, 100%, the game is great with friends. Good times to be had.

If it seems like something you'd be interested in, you're probably safe in purchasing it.

The conversation about video games being art is a certain level of elitism I'm usually not too fond of spreading, but when a game like this comes out, it's really hard to argue it as being anything else. This is interactive cinema and I cannot wait to upgrade my specs and experience this game in as peak fidelity as possible.

Best 2D game I've ever played and it isn't even close. Beating the final boss in the true ending after hours of trying to understand their move-set was like nothing I've felt in gaming in a very long time. If you like being challenged, buy it.

Glad I took the plunge, only at 2 hours roughly in but I can say I don't regret my purchase so far, I'll update my review after I beat the game.

Very obvious old school Zelda inspiration but it comes into something of its own and it's a good time, if you like Zelda you'll probably like this.
