funny fish idle game. smooth progression and very relaxing.
i wish alt-tabbing out of the game didn't exit chill mode, and that the sprites didn't have a pixel smoothing filter applied to them, but those are my only complaints.

This game, honestly, is not good. It fails to be a truly compelling conclusion to the Zero Escape trilogy, and it also fails to stand out in most other aspects.

I believe there are a lot of fans of the Nonary Games who will hate this game simply for not being as good as those earlier entries, and I will give them exactly that. If you're someone who can't tolerate a game that is rough around the edges, or you're hoping for answers to questions you may have actually posed after finishing VLR, turn around now. Do not play this game. It isn't going to be worth your time, and I can't put that any more nicely. Maybe play it if you're interested in seeing what a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it can be, as it can be an exceedingly hilarious experience with friends, but know that I warned you.

If you're someone who's willing to 'hear Uchikoshi out', so to speak, this game might be for you. I personally think this game has some ideas in it that are good in concept, and probably would have made for a pretty good addition if the "original" vision of this game actually released. Despite the utter ridiculousness of the game's general plot and premise, it manages to stay pretty consistent with itself. No matter how stupid the plot twists are, they are undeniably foreshadowed, and even the plot contrivances that are present to make them happen aren't much worse than some of Uchikoshi's other games.

The fragment system is truly a "love it or hate it" scenario. While I will say that it almost objectively robs the game's deaths of any possible emotional impact, it is nonetheless fundamental to what Zero Time Dilemma is. I think the concept leads to a pretty interesting dynamic within the game's plot. Some fragments manage to retain their emotional impact despite being potentially rendered null and void in the next fragment you play, which coupled with the game's pretty okay overall plot shows the true potential of the idea, and it's something I ended up enjoying in the end.

I will say that my opinion is informed very deeply by an appreciation of ideas and potential, and the passion put into this stupid little game. If this all seems like useless mumbo-jumbo, and you'd rather just be playing an actually well constructed game, you can go ahead and skip this one. I don't blame you! I just have my own reasons to respond 'Yes' to the question of whether I recommend this game. If you're someone like me, someone who wants to see all of Uchikoshi's ideas, including the ridiculously bad and the painfully mediocre, I do wholeheartedly recommend this game.

Also, this game is really, really funny. There's at least 20 all-time funniest moments and quotable lines in this piece of crap. Almost worth playing just for that.
