i like this game, but solo queue survivor is genuinely the most brain melting experience ive ever had. anything that you can imagine could go wrong will probably go wrong. this game needs better survivor comms badly.

i am not very incredible at this game to begin with but it is extremely hard to want to learn how to play better if any killer can just decide they want to bring some extremely busted loadout and run a 1k winstreak. not sure how im supposed to have fun in those scenarios.

i am aware the game is competitive, but sometimes being tunneled out of a match within 3 minutes because of a single pallet stun doesnt make it feel very "comp" and more like a virtual rage room.

very good looking game with silly characters and dialog and very satisfying audio and pretty good music although it runs a little too far into areas that aren't exactly tense.

the game is extremely buggy at time of review but i was able to replicate all the extremely common ones and prevent them from happening in my session keeping the game pretty seamless. i didnt finish the game but i did have fun and was pretty immersed most of the time mostly by the awesome audio and not-extremely-dull-and-annoying dialog, which only falls a little flat a couple of times, still loved the characters.

not a huge fan of the throwing mechanics not being really all that physics based, all but hard throws will feel muted or just not carry any inertia while real throws will auto-aim at your targets (which might be okay if there was a good middle ground between true physics based throwing and the aim assist like Robo Recall)

some of the puzzles took a little bit to figure out mostly to levers either being in walls or not being interact-able from certain angles

nearly all of my issues with the game are just bugs or game mechanics that can be changed so if you can see past all of that its still an amazing game and i had a lot of fun

just as fun as the first especially with a friend, better gameplay and cooler levels (manual weapon reloading!!!)

still the same silly protagonist as the first, just as silly as the last game and now with a puppy to murder zombies with you!

occasional performance issues sadly (RTX 3060 & Ryzen 7 7700x on Oculus Quest 1 Link)

game definitely feels dated in 2024 but still feels better and is generally more fun than a lot of the other vr slop with a silly protagonist as you adventure the post-apocalyptic and cartoony world

super nice tool if you want to pin your fps to your hand without it being intrusive to whatever you're playing

will also show you battery levels on your controllers and headset

absolutely perfect and a must-have for any vr user new or seasoned.

brutal combat, scary environments, and zombies that feel like real monsters trying to get you.

the story is interesting but suffers from rpgmmo type quests where you are sent to fetch an item and return to camp nearly every time, but thats okay. the amazing gameplay itself helps pad it out.

starting with some good things-

combat is just as good as the first game if not better with the new weapons

night missions are awesome with way more walkers, typically running me completely dry on ammo and weapons and using whatever is around to fight my way back to the skiff

the voice acting is still good, although some characters sound a little too enthusiastic at times

new levels!

...now the bad, which crushes this game for me

the story in general is uninteresting and felt too short for what the trailers portrayed, feels like a lot was left out
-derik (big guy in the trailers) has very little part in the game, you meet him once and then you do a boss fight down the line which has a neat set and cool idea on how you fight him but really you just hit him 3 times and thats it, could have been executed better
-pawn king is just a quest giver, you dont buy or sell from him and his story abruptly stops at the end of the game and you can no longer visit him after
-the priest has a lot of dialog but feels super padded out and doesnt really get to a point. he also does not have a satisfying end to his story

generally didnt care for the new characters all that much

your choices in the last game do not carry over and the game is written in a specific timeline, you dont get to hear from casey either

the new levels are neat with more buildings and corners to loot and fight walkers in but *occasionally* look worse and barren compared to the old levels which you can still access and are still the main areas you'll be looting in

bourbon street is the best of the 3 new levels in there, lots of detail, almost the entire level can be traversed vertically
and many buildings to play around in

all of the new levels suffer greatly in terms of loot spread, some areas feel empty and others feel like they drop things that dont make sense or arent useful very often

overall
-gameplay is still amazing, even better than the first game in some areas
-story suffers extremely
-some occasional performance issues (im running on a ryzen 7 7700x and an rtx 3060)
-not enough new levels to play in
-some areas of the new maps are bland and not very detailed (most notably the tower map)
-new crafting areas are ok but i wish they werent half full of upgrades and had more physical weapons or items to mess with (this is just a nitpick thing and certainly didnt take away from the gameplay for me)

still not a bad buy all things considered, but definitely not what you'd expect from a "sequel"

dont let the hours fool you, this game is a wannabe-bad-roblox and a pile of garbage full of money hungry child exploiter developers and an extremely racist and toxic pre-teen community.

yes i still play, game used to be great and its hard to let go of what it once was

i suggest only playing with friends in private games or at the very least syncing you and your buddies voice settings so you can only hear each other, still good fun to be had
